  • La Manga

Off to La Manga later in the year for a short break. Has anyone been there and purchased any cigars from this place at all?

    Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Went there for a stag weekend in 2007...

Purchased a box of Monte 4's (?80) & 5's (?60) from this shop, the (fairly small) humidor is at the back of the shop...

There are loads of Tabacs in La Manga so if you just walk up and down the main drag you will come across them, go into them all as the majority all have walk-in humidor, some with better choice/condition than others...

    Hope this helps...!?!

    Cheers, HabanoSy

      Hola, Com esta?

Thankfully, the Spanish are one of the few European countries to still embrace the noble culture and traditions of the cigar.

So, nil desperandum, you'll find many 'Estanco's' (wherever you wander) that stock both NC'S and CC'S. Most of the major towns and coastal resorts will have have several stockists. (Through few have a web presence) some of the bigger Supermarkets will carry quite a variety.

If your looking for more choice than at La Manga, Marbella has some very good 'estancos', though not the cheapest, for that you'll need to make a detour to Gibraltar.

One tip if you go (and drive) - avoid the queues and park on the Spanish side of the border (much easier, quicker and cheaper than trying to find a space in Gib.) walk through - across the runway (duck if a plane is landing/taking off) and Bob's yer teapot.

      Hasta luego!

      P.S. Have a good time.

+1 for the trip across the border to Gibraltar but you can only take 50 back over the boarder. Lewis Stagnetto is the best place to buy from, fantastic range and great prices.

Another point is that all the prices in the Tabacos shops are the same as they are government licenced. The choice between stores can vary greatly as can the quality, depending on whether the owner cares for cigars or not.

You should be able to find a price list on the net and that will be the exact price you pay for them, so you can plan ahead. Just be aware that not all shops carry all products, but they do carry a lot of NC's.

Thanks chaps, and Sy especially for the heads up on the vendor highlighted. It's quite amazing that whenever someone posts up enquiry about a particular place/shop etc, someone has been there

I'm not expecting any bargains as I was aware of the fixed price approach, and I'm sure not going to get a pass out to gybe over to Gib, but cheers for the input on both counts

              San pedro del pinatar.

San pedro del pinatar is just around the coast and has a superb shop in the main street packed with good quality smokes at reasonable prices, they also have decent Dominican bundles at 25 Euros a bundle.

Yep, you prob mean the Cava de Puros Diego Jose in Lo Pagan, across the Marina on the way into San Pedro del Pinatar ( as there are no good cigar stores in San Pedro d.P. proper ).

Been buying there ( see my blog ) for 20 years and their selection is just fantastic. - BTW : Cava de Puros Diego Jose has been around for more than a 100 years.

I recommend the "Casa del Reloj" Bar/Rest. in San Pedro d.P. for the best bar to enjoy a cigar - up in the first floor.

Here's a report ( in German ) from 2007 that includes Cava Diego, the Mar Menor area, a combat chopper SAR training mission, the local fish auction hall as well as Casa del Reloj.

Thanks for some very informative input Nino. I'll be sure to try and locate Cava de Puros. I'm probably not going to get a pass out to visit the bar though

Mind you, if it has a good view I might be able to persuade my good lady
