  • Montecristo Grand Edmundo LE 2010

Had the chance to smoke several of these now, and if you're a Monte Edmundo fan you're in for a treat. It's an Edmundo but bigger. This may seem obvious, but hey, you never know it could've tasted completely different!

All enjoyed with a pot of Earl Grey - cleanses the pallet and doesn't over burden the senses like coffee or something stronger.

    Appearance 13/15:
Medium coloured wrapper, some stretched leaf.

    Flavour 22/25:
Marzipan to begin with, not too strong, very Montecristo. Hints of lemon and lime citrus flavours. Goes into vanilla flavours half way through, then to chocolate. Real Cuban flavours, typical of Monte's. Some Branston Pickle in there too. Plenty of variance of different tastes. Final third is awesome: chocolate and pepper through and through.

    Smoking characteristics 24/25:
Lots of smoke - one for big smoke fans - long ash consistent burn, firm build. The draw is perfect, with a decent amount of air coming through the not-so densly constructed cigar - maybe more so than the usual PE/Edmundo's.

    Overall impressions 31/35:
Definitely a great cigar, which is worth grabbing hold of, though I find myself wanting something stronger. One for a beginner for sure, if they can take the size - albeit they're probably better off with a PE.

    Total out of 100: 90

Definitely worth keeping a couple of boxes for maturing, I can see it getting better and better with age.

If you're a fan of Monte Edmundo's you should definitely stock up.

    Cgars singles ?19.99
    Cgars box of 10 ?199.99

Great review Gov'nor, certainly worth a single or two as testers .... but, Branston Pickle?
If you want to, you can.

Definitely agree with their tastes; mocha, chocolate etc.

Sorry to ask the obvious question but how does it compare to the sublime?

Very different tastes imo, Sublime much sweeter. One day I'll do them back to back and try to do a comparison.

It considered getting a box of these and the party le's when I get back from the US. I might even go for 2 of these after this review

Yeah I would. I'll be picking up a couple of boxes in Cuba if nothing else older catches my eye.

                      nice review Deano...

Had the pleasure of trying one of these at Foxs before the Behike launch...

Great cigar now, and definitely one for the furure...

                      Cheers, HabanoSy

Is that strictly fair. Shouldn't the comparison be with the Edmundo as they are both Ca?onazo.

this is a strange one..........i'm not too keen on the montecristo flavour profile, but i'm seriously tempted by these (and the sublimes)!!! i've a few PE's and 1 edmundo in the humidor......... and these boyo's look yummy!!!

i'll maybe nip into belfast tomorrow to see if i can pick one up before committing to a box!!!!
