  • My First UK Arrivals

OK, I'm so excited that even though I was not in the office today I went in when I got back home as I suspected my new parcel would be delivered today!

    Here are the contents:

    There are:

    3 x H. Upmann Petit Coronas cigar
3 x Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill cigars

    3 x Cain Maduro 550 Cigars
    3 x Montecristo No. 4 cigars
3 x Bolivar Petit Coronas cigars

People are raving about the Wide Churchills so I hope I won't be disappointed.

The Montecristo 4's were given good comments on thread recently.

Bolivars are well thought of as are the H Upmanns so figured I would give these a bash in a petit corona size as they are not too expensive.

Lastly I've also read good things about the Maduro 550's so why not.

Basically I just sat on the CGars website on Saturday night and picked myself a few Gars to help fill up my new frigidor. I'm pretty happy with the selection and plan on trying a Chrurchill over the weekend.

Nice selection, you will not be disappointed with any of them. I've tried one wide churchill and it isn't your typical RyJ. It is a hell of a lot stronger, the strongest RyJ i've tried so far.

          A nice looking selection there.

I would also recommend the Partagas SD4 for your next purchase.

            hey softtop,
that's a fantastic wee selection you got yourself there!!! all fantastic cigars (i don't know anything about the cains, i'm a cuban fan myself)!!!

i'm not usually a fan of the petite corona's, but you got a class selection!!! one word of advice though (from experience), the h upmanns are light to medium bodied and the montecristo 4's are a medium to full......... great for beginners!!! the bolivar, however, is in a league of it's own.......it's a f**king POWERHOUSE!!! if you're not carefull it'll kick your ass!!! do not smoke first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach or with too much booze!!! it's a great cigar to have after a decent meal in the evening!!!!

do let us know what you think of the wide churchill, i'm still pondering over this one (it'll be my next purchase, if not the montecristo grande edmundo)!!!

all the best pal, and happy smoking......

No need to be jealous ! It will all come in time. Like children we have to learn how to walk before we can run. So chill and the good things will come.

Oh yes, very nice smokes, the wide Churchill is on my wish list for later. You will enjoy the Cains, cracking smoke, in my opinion (and it is only mine) the cains outclass a lot of CCs.

But Partagas SD4s which you might want to add to your wish list are one of my fav smokes.

Excellent collection of smokes you've got yourself there Soft Top.

I found the Cain 550 Maduros to be a real revelation. I was expecting them to be very one-dimensional and quite overpowering and even harsh given the ligero dominated blend. I was pleasantly surprised. They have clearly been blended very carefully, and whilst they are clearly a fairly strong and robust cigar, they are actually pretty smooth and enjoyable.

Personally I'd have swapped the Upmann PCs for El Rey de Mundo's offering (another mild-medium PC). For my money, the ERdM PC is the king of all petit coronas. It's not the strongest, nor the fullest in flavour, but it's a gorgeous, tasty, holiday afternoon type of cigar.

Also, by all accounts, the Por Larranaga PC is an absolute gem. I must get myself some of them, thinking about it.

Well done for going for the PCs though - a much underrated and, more importantly, undervalued section of the cigar market. They are a really nice length - just under the hour mark, just long enough to have some real flavour development from start to finish. They burn very well compared to robustos (in my opinion) and are a great introduction to most marques.

                          Enjoy.

Nice selection... another PC to try is the Juan Lopez, the sel 1 amd 2 are also good. Also worth a look is the Minuto size -Trini Reyes/Party Short/San Cristobal El Principe/Monty 5/Boli Corona Junior/Ramon Allones Small Club Corona.... probably in that order

again, another sterling selection recommended by acmcc........and considering that the autumn is approaching, smaller cigars are what's needed, if like me, you're an outdoors smoker!!!! my top 5 smaller smokes are as follows:
                              1. cohiba maduro secretos
                              2. trinidad reyes
                              3. partagas shorts
                              4. cuaba traditionales
                              5. bolivar corona junior

......just outside my list is the monte no. 5 and the h upmann corona junior!!!

this kinda sums up the smaller, 30-40 minute smokes i'd recommend to most!!! all great 'anytime of the day' smokes.........
