Smoked the Partagas Serie D No.4 (thanks Robusto!) from the smoke ring competition earlier.

Nice looking cigar and it felt good between the fingers. Certainly tasted like premium tobacco . I still have a pleasant aftertaste several hours later and the smell on my fingers is very rich, making me salivate when I smell them. Almost burnt my fingers and had lovely tingly gums and lips in the last couple of inches-liking the strength of this one. I'd definitely have another.

They keep on sounding like a primo puro those D4s. Interesting comments about the sensation on the lips/gums. I had similar experience with a JLP the other day, very spicy but wasn't sure whether to comment, mmm. It was nice sensation. Just need to begin getting more in touch with flavour, sense and taste.

Prompted me to fire up a wee Guantanamera
    "Go you good things...geddem int'ya"

It WAS pretty nice. I'm assuming the lip/gum sensation is a nicotine thing, though being a regular cigarette smoker I expect I'm somewhat more resistant to the nauseating effects of the nicotine.

I'm only a cigar n00b. I've been smoking the good stuff for only a month, but despite that nagging sensation that nobody cares what I think on here, I'm still trying to describe my experiences, as other newbie smokers may find it reassuring, or at least encourage them to share. It's all valid. Not everyone can be an experienced cigar smoker instantly! What you experience is not 'wrong'.
I only occasionally have moments where I go "THAT'S WHAT IT IS!" with the flavour, sense and taste. Which is when I write them down or share.

I'm expecting the skill to distinguish the subtleties will come with more experience. Please share your experiences if you wish to!
