  • Olivia ? Georges Reserve Churchill

Manufacturer: Olivia (Not Yakaterina as I had previously thought)
    Wrapper: Natural (Nicaragua)
    Filler: Nicaragua
    Size: 7 x 48
    Shape: Churchill
    Smoke Time: 1hour 20mins

I made two very basic errors before starting this Review.
    1) The cigar was a gift from Rokkit. So, knowing (our) George?s preference for stronger flavoured, nicotine rich cigars I had set myself up accordingly this afternoon with a full stomach.
    2) Expecting a heavier cigar I had chosen to accompany it with two-fingers of Celtic Wysgi Blended Whisky. Big mistake. After having a few puffs, I took a sip and quickly realised that the warmth and flavor of the Whisky were completely overpowering the cigar. I quickly changed to Sparkling Mineral Water which I found suited the cigar well. The Whisky I?m sipping while writing this Review.

    Appearance:
Clear natural wrapper. Soft honey colour with very few veins or blemishes.

    Construction:
Excellent. Near-perfect burn from start to finish. Solid, white-grey ash. The draw on this cigar was effortless.

    Flavour:
The flavour is light to medium and ?agreeably? non-complex. The start is pretty much tart, sour lemons with a hint of saltiness, there is also a creaminess about the taste which might be attributable to the wrapper (I?m not sure). The cigar remains pretty much in the same flavour mode and pleasantly mellow until around the second half when a subtle change occurs and slighty more woody, caramalised flavours kick in, and which then carry on becoming progressively ?dryer? towards the end of the smoke.

    Overall Rating:
Mr.B was pretty unreserved in his praise of this cigar and I can understand why. IMHO it's well made, has a excellent draw. Overall a very pleasant, easy to get along with cigar. Not overly complex but seriously worth a try.

Nice review. I've got a robusto in my tupperdor now ... sounds like a good stick to smoke on a cool, lazy fall afternoon.

Why did this make me snigger? What's wrong with me? (Don't answer that!).
