  • Drew Estates EGG MADURO

Ok a little while ago i got another Egg off Ron (Shuckins) which ive been waiting for the right moment to do an eggie review and here it is...

So heres the Egg Maduro, looking nice and oily and waiting to be torched

This lit very easily given the end is so thin, immediately began to burn well and the clock started at 8pm GMT

As soon as i lit her up i was suprised at how mild this maduro was, the initial thoughts were that was not going to be that tasty as it started off a little bland. It had a peculiar burn pattern and began to look a little like a flower. After the first inch or so i was tasting a delicate flavo(u)r of cocoa which was nice on the palette.

The smoke was quite evident and given i was smoking indoors with cold wind and rain outside i was sat in a room filled with smoke, surprising however that it wasnt making my eyes sore; yet! The cocoa began to be accompanied by a gentle nuttyness which seemed to compliment this cigar well. After a short while, say about 45 minutes.. lol The flavo(u)rs seemed to mingle with added earthy tastes and a hint of pepper. The ash became difficult to control and as i was puffing on this Egg the ash was falling loosely on my computer desk which i do find a little annoying.

At the half way point the stogie became quite hot and the leaf began to feel very soft and spongie making it difficult to hold. The tastes of pepper by now was quite over whelming but the cigar continued to burn well. After the halfway point i didnt enjoy the cigar as much as i did at the start due to losing the cocoa and earth, and the pepper seemed to give the nuttyness a little bit of an added taste. The nut taste soon dissipated leaving me with a heavy feeling of pepper.

Almost at the end now and 1 hour 45 minutes of dense fog in my living room i gave in to the cold and had to open my door and light some scent sticks, the acrid smoke thick and over whelming. This is definitely a 'smoke outside cigar' by now i had sore eyes!

Finally with an inch to go and almost impossible to hold all i could taste was pepper and spices of some description. My overall thoughts on this cigar is its great for a novelty, and for showing people when they look in your humi. As for smoking, well i would say two thirds of it was pleasant enough but the final third was more complicated given the texture changed, the heat increased and the pepper was very powerful. So almost 2 hours to smoke this cigar and it did offer me a few surprises.

Would i smoke it again?? Hmmm yes i would.!! This is the second Egg Ron (Shuckins) has sent me and both have been ok to smoke.

You're becoming quite the review artiste!

Cracking review!! Yes, I do remember your first report of this quite unusual cigar. Wouldn't catch me smoking this baby outside! But perhaps inside behind closed doors!

'Cracking' job as always Eggy, old bean!

Looks like the sort of cigar that the 'Road-runner' would hand out to 'Wile-E-Coyote' . Did it have 'Acme Cigar Company' written on the band?
Kept expecting to see a picture of your face when it exploded!
