    Montecristo 75th Aniversario Robusto

I've been looking forward to starting on these since I brought them back from a recent trip.

    Appearance and Construction

The pre lit aroma was that of earthy dark chocolate with a hint of coffee. It's one of the nicest pre-lit aromas I've smelt in a while. A dark Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that oozed a dark richness, with Ecuadorian, Honduran and Nicaraguan long filler tobacco. The construction was good apart from the cap on this one seemed a bit messy. Probably a bit of suitcase damage as the others looked fine.

    Flavour & Notes

Upon lighting it was urging on the light side of medium and after a few draws a earthy sweet chocolate taste began to develop and with a larger draw a slighty spicy note emerged. It had a light pleasant finsh to it that wasnt overbearing but enough to keep me going back to it a bit more often to get the chocolate taste again. Into the second third it kicked itself up a notch and the same flavours were there but more intense and rich which began to develop into a nutty melted butter undertones which was really quite pleasant.

    Burn/Ash/Draw

The burn line reasonably straight The ash was tight not the whitest i've seen but good enough. The draw was effortless making this an easy and enjoyable smoke

    Overall
This was a great monte, given it's an NC I'd be happier to stick it with my others. Consistent flavour all the way through not complex, but good enough to be straight forward smoke to realise it was a quality cigar. I shall definatley be looking into getting more of these, I suspect also that they would be outstanding with some age too.
