  • I?ve been busy!

I have access to a laser cutter, did a bit of creative work today and etched this on the back of an old Monte Canario (Canary Island) cigar box.
I tried to etch a photo of the front of a Romeo y Julieta box but as you can see it did not come out very well.
I'm going to try to etch a big bold Cohiba on to the back of an old Ramon Allones box when I get a chance.
If you guys want anything personalising just let me know.

You have access to some really nice toys. I've seen some youtube vids of laser engravers at work. I can't find the link now but there is a guy who cuts out wooden panels and engraves little boxes that he makes to order. No glue is needed as the cuts are so precise and they fit together with just finger joints.

          Nice stuff Richgirling.
I work for a laser profile company in Sunny Dudley. I draw silly shapes but they are cut out of steel.
The miserable sod's won't let me etch a nice cigar onto some shiny stainless steel.

That sounds interesting jibjob, perhaps I will get myself some cedar wood and make my own humidor.
I think your lasers would be just a little more powerful than mine linfield!

                found the video

                he also has a website

                http://www.erickenyon.com/tomcat.html

now making small boxes for individual cigars, coffins or small presentaion boxes could be a very nice side line and i only charge 10% commission and a few freebie boxes for the idea lol. I like how the lid is attached to the box with a simple wooden hinge, so elegant and simple.

                  Nice one jibjob, thanks.
I have made a press fit light box like that out of acrylic. I machined some photos into the acrylic to make lithographs.
I used my best toy a CNC router with laser scanner and 4th axis attachment, now I can do some really special stuff with that!

Now you are just showing off, guess you will just have to prove what you can do with your toys by posting some pictures or vids of you making some rather nice cigar related items
