  • USA Honeymoon.

    Gents,

Some of you know I recently did the deed and got married.

For our honeymoon we went on a cruise to New England and Canada.

As Mrs Pandy does not mind if I indulge my cigar obsession I visited a few shops and if anyone is going to the US they may like to visit them.

Our first posrt of call was Newport, Rhode Island. Here I found a small cigar and tobacconsit called The Humidor,

In here I found a lady running the shop, originally from Devon but had lived in the US for about 30 years. It was a nice small shop not far from the harbour and had a good selection of NC's. I purchased the smokes in the photo

The next shop I found was in Portland, Maine. Old port wine and cigar shop is run by an absolute gem of a chap called Jacques de Villier, 223 Comercail Street, Portland. I went in to the humi and picked a couple of smokes.

I started to chat with him about cubans and smoking in the UK. I picked up a Nub branded cutter and asked how much it was. He said "For you it's free". He then shot off in to the rear of the store saying "I've got to sort you out." He came back with a Nub pouch full of smokes. He siad that they had recently had an event and these were for me.

Also included were an Olivia cutter, Olivia matches and Winston Churchill matches.
Some pics of the shop and the man himself

    .

True gent who made my day.

We then sailed on to Bar Harbour, Maine where I visited the "Man Shop"
They sell smokes and man type stuff. Picked up a couple of smokes and a nice empty box or two.

No pics of the shop as I didn't take the camera. But worth a visit.

In Canada I bought one cigar a CAO Italia tubed churchill. Cigars seemed to be expensive in Canada and Cubans seem cheaper in the UK!!!!!!

Our last stop was New York city were I visited the Midtown cigar store on 5th Ave and purchased a few smokes.

A great selection and some nice offers. The cohiba case is similar to the Xikar case. The yellow light in the siglo pack is excellent for a freebie.
I was not impressed with the pepole in this cigar store. They did not really want to talk to me when I attempted to engage them in conversation about smokes. It was a contrast to the great service and friendly atmosphere I had gotten on the rest of the trip.

Anyway I would thoroughly reccomend the cruise I went on and the great part of the US and Canada that we saw. I have more pics on my Facebook page if you fancy checking them out.

I hope that you all enjoyed the read and photos.

    Duncan

                Nub-tuals you mean, surely...

Sounds like a great honeymoon there pandy - the store in Portland sounds like a heaven on earth. Nothing beats a great bit of service (apart from great service and freebies...)

A cigar I spotted straight away was your La Aurora Preferidos tubo, that you picked up in RI. I've got one waiting to be smoked (without the awesome packaging however ). I'm eagerly anticipating their UK release in the not too distant future - keep an eye out.

That one I gifted to Jibjob79 as part of a thankyou for his cigar help at my wedding. I also gave him the Nub cutter, CAO La Traviata and one of the siglo reservas. He was pretty chuffed so I'll ask him what it was like.

                  Cheers for all the posts.

As for planning your honeymoon around a tour of Northern hemisphere cigar shops? Inspired!

Start as you mean to go on I say.
Your a lucky man (but don't ever let on to the wife - it pays to keep em on their toes).

Chuffed to say the least. I have them slowly recovering from their travel across the pond in my humi as we speak. Might see how the Nub cutter works on a Habano 466 later mmmmmmmm.
