    What can I say?
A wonderful cigar-chap time yesterday afternoon. Wonderful.

I travelled up from an airstrip near my home near Sandwich, Kent, with FlyBE to Edinburgh Airport. Stevieboy and Giga were waiting at Arrivals with a cartoon Robusto A4 sheet. Excellent kick-off!

To cut, we man-hugged by the baggage collect and hit it off immediately.

The guys drove me to my hotel and then we headed to l'hotel du vin to the cigar bothy set up in a courtyard. It was bloody freezing yesterday late afternoon, but smoking great cigars and laughing made the balls-off quite tolerable.

Whisky77 had come over from Glascow way for the afternoon and brought a number of excellent cigars with him. I am hopeless at model numbers. I enjoyed a beautiful large Trinidad and a Bolivar (a personal favourite) which was more muted than the usual gob-smack I'm used to. It was a succulent smoke after the Trinidad.

We drank no alcohol between us. Coffees and teas all the way.

We smoked. We joked. We laughed. It was fantastic.

There really is something about cigar brotherhood when it works... which, for me, is most of the time. It's extraordinary. What is the reason for it? I don't know.

All I can say - because all that needed to be said between us was said - is that I am really grateful that you drove to Edinburgh and we met up yesterday, boys. I shall reciprocate the pleasure if you take that propellor plane down to Kent.

In truth, we have communicated and modddded for over two years, and those typed snippets do add up to something.

I do enjoy the company of good blokes. Thanks for a great day.

And - once more, Deano. If you hadn't created this space, I'd have been toking Cubans all on my tod.

These pleasures are due to your immaculate conception, buddy, and although I'm not around on here as much as I used to be due to the joy of my State Babysitting Performance Management Higher Doctorate , I am VERY grateful to you, mate.

A couple of dodgy attachments from my 3GS. Terrible camera! SBoy may well put up some from his vastly superior 4.

Really enjoyable afternoon spent with the lads at the Hotel Du Vin. Good company, good cigars and plenty of laughs. You cannot ask for more than that.

The little smoking Bothie at the hotel is ideal for a meet, even if it was a little chilly later in the day.

Looking forward to meeting up with more members of the forum at future Herfs.

Never spent time in Edinburgh before. It's wonderful.

At an outdoor cafe in East Princes St Gardens. Going to fire up a Petit Edmundo and bless those present.

The cafe guy has just lit the patio heaters.

Sooo much better than a normal Monday!

            That Petit Edmundo was magnificent!
It's been 18 months since the last and I'd forgotten how great they are.

                I am actually, pean.

I know we do get long holidays in this job but the constant exposure - to a particular tranche of 'the youth' - can render you beserk.

Most of them are absolutely fine.

                Cigar chomping helps.

It was a magical afternoon for me lads! My first ever UKCF herf

Thanks go to Whisk for his heroic donations! What a generous chap he is. He arrived with boxes(!) of SLR Churchills, Trini Robusto extras and the phenomenal Canadian RE Bolivar Simones and insisted we get in about them!!!! What a guy. I had one of the Bolis and it was a fantastic smoke. Lovely strong Boli flavours with an earthy sweetness coming through...magic

                  Great

You are indeed a generous man, Craig. Many thanks, again.

Gawd the 4 is sooo much better for shots than my 3. Got to do something about it!

SBoy - I went for a drink at The Beehive but the patio heaters aren't working out back at all. It was bloody cold out there today.

Dale - I reckon we're back in that cigar bothie tomorrow, mate.

Why can't the Coalition rubbish the no-smoking indoors rule? They're fingering everything else.
