  • Manhattan? Help!

Got a pal flying into NY on Fri morning, only there for the day.

Owes me a favour, and said he'll buy me a box of whatever I want as long as the stores in Manhattan.

Any suggestions on which store? Had a look on the web but the stores web site say very little about range/stock/pricing.

    Help?

I'd have him head right to JR Cigars on 5th Ave. if he's just after a quick "one stop shop". They have a pretty good range without the fluff and arguably the best prices.

As with all mules, he needs to have a short list in case your imagined box is not in stock but "Choose Wisely": there are a kazillion non-Cuban brands and selection can be mind-boggling.

Was ideally looking for Oliva V but can't seem to find a B&M store in Manhattan that carries them.

David try Barclay Rex on Lexington Avenue, they had them when I was there last year, along with Tats, Rocky Patel, Pepin Garcia, illusion, Padilla, Padron and Ashton VSG, all the major brands! Check out their website for prices.

        Hope this helps mate.

Certainly does help, all the brands I was interested in and 3 locations in Manhattan.

          Fantastic!

          Cheers Gary!

Happy to help! I'd get your mate to bring back as much as he can carry to be honest (if funds allow of course).

Let us know what you end up getting.

Why not Davidoff, and grab a box of one of the special cigars only made for Michael Herklot, general manager of the New York stores. Only place you can buy them.

You can probably also find them at Florio's restaurant in Little Italy. 192 Grand between Mott and Mulberry. He can smoke them in the upstairs lounge so you don't get any.

                  Oh stop it Lee...

You're like the voice of my evil cigar conscience.

                  Just looking it up now!

I recently went to midtown cigars 562 5th ave. Around 46th street. Good selection but staff were a bit rude. Also give gman a call he lives there and may have some tips. Unless he is still on his ban.

JR Cigars on 5th Ave is great with a massive selection at great prices. Also the top end of 6th Ave, last block before Central Park, on the right hand side is De La Concha. I used to work just over the road and these guys were always great and friendly. Smaller sure but very good.
Let us know what type of smokes you like and maybe the brothers with some non cuban knowledge can make a few suggestions.
