Off to Doha for two days next week for work... with a full day off! I'm staying at the intercontinental and wondered if anyone had any interesting bits of knowledge I should be aware of with regards to shopping!

There is also apparently a casa del habano not far from my hotel, but I can't find prices and the like. I think I'll have a look for the P1 Jar.

It does seem like a long way to go (pretty much 7 hours each way) and I'll be there three boody nights all to work for 2 hours!

I'll make a full report on any findings on my return.

Duty free at the airport: a friend of mine was there 2 years ago, the prices were interesting, like 60$ for a petaca of 5 Cohiba coronas especiales?

              Hello all

Just got back from business trip to the Middle East and picked up some cigars there at great prices. Flew into Doha and shopped in the duty free cigar humidor in the business lounge (there is also another cigar store in the other terminal, apparently). Got box of 25 Montecristo Edmundos for ?150. They had a fair selection of boxes of 25 - mostly the big names - similar prices. Later in Dubai went into the Casa Del Habano in the main terminal (there are two - one small, one large) and bought 9 Cohiba Robustos from the larger one for about ?85. Pretty chuffed with the savings to be honest, definitely recommend both Doha and Dubai if you happen to be there/passing through.
              Cheers
              Dave
