  • Where do you smoke when it's cold?!

Having a bit of trouble at the moment!

You see you're not allowed to smoke in Uni halls of residence and there's no where to sit and it's brass monkeys in Cardiff at the moment! Is there literally anywhere you can smoke indoors anymore or does the smoking ban cover literally everywhere with a roof?

Anyone got any idea's or know of any places worth going?

P.S: Please don't mention the "cover the fire alarm with a bowl method"...I might have erm had experience with this particular method that resulted in a fairly hefty fine!

'Fraid so Junior .... all public buildings .... smokin' is BANNED!

Best bet I reckon .... find an 'ugly' bird with her own flat!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

I smoke a lot less through the winter. We're lucky in Plymouth to have a good spot at the Barbican with glass wind shields and lots of heaters - so it's bearable, but not exactly great. I look at it as a good excuse to whip out the nice winter coats - show off the cashmere people!

Of course, you can smoke (I mean 'sample' ) in specialist tobacconists if they allow it themselves. As we don't have any in Plymouth, that's not an option for me - and I don't know if the Bear shop in Cardiff allows it? Hence why I want to start a shop in Plymouth - somewhere to smoke indoors which doesn't leave my apartment a little whiffy the next morning...

I like to sit in the conservatory wrapped up with the laptop however my second favourite to taking the dog for a walk, wrapped up warm again with an audio book playing on the iPod. It is amazing how relaxing you can be after 2 hours strolling along without a care in the world. Other than that find a pub covered smoking hut with heaters.

Well, other than recommending that you don't get caught putting a bowl over the smoke alarm or making friends with second year smokers, there's a few places round Cardiff. Which halls are you at again? I can just relate my experiences of pubs in your area.
The Woodville's beer garden is VERY sheltered from the wind and they have heating. I've not received a second glance smoking a Boli RC there on a Friday evening. The Pen & Wig has been reasonably cigar-friendly when I've smoked there. It tends to be where I end up if I'm out with work so you may see me there occasionally! 33 Windsor Place has a nice area but the heating is a bit shit. Buffalo ain't bad if you can huddle in the corner but no heating there at all AFAICR.

Oh, to the best of my knowledge, the Bear Shop doesn't seem to allow sampling on the premises.

I'm in Taly South! The woody has been a local of mine as I've met mate's there a lot, they didn't seem to mind an H.Uppman corona junior either! Where is the pen and wig I've only ever heard about it so far!

Well there's two ways of describing how you get there. It's either behind Cardiff Arts Institute (used to be Inncognito), or behind the church in the roundabout if you're walking up from the road Buffalo is in. Handy site here.

[EDIT] Check out their ales and whiskies too. Better than average I'd say.

Enjoyed the Pen and Wig with a good friend tonight, 2 pints of Marstons EMA (at just ?1.89 a pint ) and one punch petit Coronas...was my first one and I have to say a very cool and pleasant smoke!
