  • Still no to NC's...

    Still giving Nc's a go, I won't be sidetracked..
Just finished a San Teodoro Churchill dropped into me whilst I was away over Xmas... he knows about my search for a good 'un...
Whilst a better more substantial flavour (creamy caramel) than my sojourn with the 'Special R' it did have 'something' going for it but about 2/3rds in I got bored waiting for developements, all in all, too easy, lacked dimension...
    Back to the Cuban's again!

Try a "My Father" or one of the upper scale Tatuaje. There are other good stick but relatively few.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

        I admire your diligence!
It's really the only way to form a judgment.

There are certainly many non-Cuban cigars worth smoking although it's always amazed me how so many manufacturers can continue to produce so many blends that are substantially the same, less than satisfying and rely on fancy marketing to sell, while virtually every one of the relatively few Cuban marcas feature a solid lineup of tasty treats.

I've stopped buying non-Cuban products due mainly to budget limitations but have noticed that as I smoke up my remaining stocks, I'm less and less interested in the flavours and the overall smoking satisfaction is low.

One of my mottos used to be: "Life's too short to smoke BAD cigars".
Now I say "Life's too short to smoke non-Cuban cigars".

Like yourself I have tried various NC brands and Vitolas, some good and some really bad.
I still favour the Rocky Patel over anything else i have either purchased myself or been gifted by others.

LOL. Much like me. I tend to drop hints though & send Cubans in reply.

Granted, there are a few fine N/Cs that occupy the top drawer of don TJ's fine unit, but I only smoke 'em to save a tree.... errr, I mean, to save a fine puro for another day.

                        What's so queer about that?

                        Hey BB! You said "queer!

Jimmeh returned from the US raving about the LFD Airbender so we tracked a few down, yuck.

Some of the Rocky Patels I do have respect for.

I am a huge NC fan. I personally thing top range NCs are as good, if not better than many CCs.

                            My favourite brands are:

                            Illusione (especially the cg4)
                            Tatuaje
Cabaiguan (the belicoso is one of my all time favs)

You also have a huge selection of other top NC cigars like:
                            padron
Rocky Patel (I really like the Decade and 92)
                            DPG blue
                            My father
                            Padilla

and quite a few more. if you want to make yourself a favour, do try Illusiones. I personally think they are probably within the top 5 brands, including cuban ones
