  • Did I miss a meeting?

    Off topic kinda question, sorry.

It's just that I'm becoming concerned that I've fallen behind the times and I'm wondering what I can do about it?

You see, I can't help but notice that usage of a once popular keyboard function has fallen into steep decline, and it's making me think that:
    a) I'm getting old, and
    b) I'm just not 'with it' (whatever 'it' is) anymore?

I'm referring of course to that strange rectangular button generally found on the bottom left of a keyboard, three up - called 'Caps Lock'.

I seem unable to break the habit of using it. I keep wanting to stop... but I just can't help myself.
The thing is, it seems that more and more frequently I see posts that don't contain a single capital letter - not even at the beginning of a sentence!

Have the rules changed, is it 'uncool' or something?
Maybe it's an age thing, or perhaps English teachers in some parts of the country have just given up bothering trying to explain what it's for.
    I dunno.

    Can someone help me understand?

My names El Cat - and I'm flying the flag for CAPITAL letters!

Love it El Cat, give it to 'em, I tried to say that in a Newbie Greet posting but it fell on deaf keyboards & besides I'm nowhere near as eloquent as you so:
BLOODY WELL SAID OLD CHAP. Sorry about the shouting!

Wow, you're one of those slightly odd chaps who presses the caps lock button either side of typing a capital letter... I just hold the shift button as I hit the relevant letter... Whatever particular method people use, it's the results that matter - and you certainly get the desired result. Great post.

You've got me worrying about my grammar now!

Fairly sure I use capitals most of the time. I blame Bill Gates, MS Word will automatically put capital letters in for you if you forget.

i dont really use punctuation or capital letters on internet forums. i would on texts tho strangely enough.
i quite like playing with sentences and just find it more fluid without capitals. i feel quite restricted using capitals? i also find with a lot of forum posts that if i spend the time capitalising and thinking on a post, i'll lose sight of the reason for posting or veer off on a tangent and undermine the post i set out to make! forum posts you have to splurt out quick and never look back!

i was educated in one of the top grammar schools in the country... its the internet what did it to me!
