Thought I'd tell you about the patio heater I got...

I got it for 90quid when they had a sale on....I can 100% recommend it, it's bloody awesome.

That was my 2010 purchase of the year, and I already have a 2011; my Krups Citiz Nespresso machine.

I was a little worried about the quality of the coffee that they sell along side the machines, but after talking it over with T and a couple of others, bit the bullet.

And I can honestly say it produces some damn good espresso (and with the milk frother, a lot more else).

Oh balls, I thought you said it was a hundred quid, ouch, oh well, not now then.

I think my purchase of 2010 was my phone, an HTC Desire. I went for that as it was easy to install my own hacked OS on it. Amazing bit of kit! Probably better than my laptop because of all the other sensors, etc.
So far this year, I'm pretty pleased with this media player. Takes USB sticks, hard drives and SD cards to play through your TV for less than 20 quid! Well impressed.

nespresso machine, I have been using one for 3 years now.

not the best coffee, but its so easy and reliable, good enough for me, not for the coffee connoisseurs i suppose. no more major cleaning routine and grinding beans action required. espeically good after a few drinks.

the latest LE capluse is very nice too, i bought 2 tubes right away when i came out.

hm...and purchase of 2010....hm........got to be my set of 2nd hand golf club , nothing speical, but its something new in my life.

We got a nespresso machine at christmas and it's been fantastic, not the absolute finest of coffees but the simplicity more than makes up for that.

My purchase of the year was probably my Fender Jaguar, it's not the most practical guitar in the world but I've wanted one since I was a kid. Got to be the last one though, I don't have room for another!

For 2011, Deano has just given me a great vision of a patio heater in my back garden!

Goodness, lots of people being converts to Nespresso, the forum should get sponsorship from them also.

Seanbeer, which LE capsule do you mean, the recent super strong one? For those not in the know, coffee strength is measured (pseudo-science I think) on a scale of one to ten. The latest limited edition capsule, before the three flavoured one over Christmas, was a strength twelve. Whilst this is mainly just marketing it was nice to be offered a very bold espresso.

Did any of you guys, who did not just recently acquire a machine, try the blue “Special Club” coffee which was a limited edition a year or so ago. I am down to my last three strips of that, then all gone for good, which is very sad as it is the best capsule they have ever done in my humble opinion. The capsules I have left are out of date but still taste great. It was what I regarded as a marmite of coffees though, you either loved it or hated it. Some of my smoking friends who have Nespresso machines and that I expected to love the Special Club hated it, I was almost embarrassed at times to think so highly of it.

Regarding the HTC phone. Now that I find jolly interesting. I am a total nerd and have fiddled with many phones. I have yet to experience an Android phone though. I would love to get away from the herd that uses an iPhone. I had my pinched just before Christmas and am currently using a borrowed 3G. The insurance company paid out for my stolen handset but I plan to put the money towards the iPhone 5 when it comes out but I would so love to get away from the Apple mafia. Some of the HTC hardware appears very good but I am not convinced by Android yet. I might have to bight the bullet one day.

I had the pleasure of being kept warm by Deano’s new patio hear Dalek and it is a different design than I have encountered before. I decided I wanted one but now the price has gone up I will refrain As a design I can recommend it, well with the little experience of it I have.

My purchase of the year, there are lots of candidates that spring to mind, mostly as they came as bargains but nothing very expensive or showy. An excellent pair of walking boots for a quarter the street price. A second Nespresso machine on offer at Bental’s and that lives on my office desk. Some Oakley sunglasses that do not really look good on me (nothing does) for ?25. An old Nokia E71 that turned out to be a bloody good phone except for the browser. An Intel dual core iMac for the cost of a gallon of petrol but that is ultimately like using a glorified picture frame or “my first computer” from Fisher Price.

It would probably have to be my ticket to Gibraltar as my number one purchase and the time I had.

But how would we stay independent, you told me to speak to Nespresso, I quit, I'm back, your banned ...ever get that sense of deja vu

Funnily enough my best purchase is also coffee related but not espresso orientated, filter coffee is the way to go. I had found myself using my espresso machine less and veering towards more filter coffee (generally it tastes a lot better, more complex, easier to prepare etc).

I got one of these and I love it

...brews and maintains at the correct temp and so easy/quick to use, pair with good grinder/beans (already had those) and it makes great coffee.

I bought it because I like to fiddle. I've used Linux exclusively as a desktop OS for probably about four years now so I couldn't really bring myself to buy anything other than Android. I was just waiting for one where the hardware was at a level I would be happy with, and happy I am! Depends what you want from it I suppose.

I've been using an HTC hero for the past couple of years and have grown very fond of Android overall. I still don't think it's quite as slick as the iPhone OS but it's more versatile and lightyears ahead of Symbian which I hate with a passion . HTC hardware is also far more sophisticated than the iPhone's with the possible exception of the imaging unit.

Seanbeer- You mean a Nespresso porn thread? I somehow cannot see that being anything but disappointing but I am game. I hear that Deano has a great Rack though, LOL.

Monkey- If you are done with it I can give you grinder and espresso machine a home! LOL The day you part with that gear will be a cold day in hell. I do not get this quote though?

“But how would we stay independent, you told me to speak to Nespresso, I quit, I'm back, your banned ...ever get that sense of deja vu”

                              Can you enlighten me?

Daverave- I am a total nerd. Work in IT and use linux at work daily but on servers, windows on the desktop and at home. Used to used Solaris a good bit but that has faded out. I was very tempted to get the truest linux phone, the Nokia N900 and hack that about as a workmate has but I could not happily go back to a resistive touch screen. If the next version has the capacititative touch screen then it might be an option.
