Hi all,

Im heading out Barcelona next Friday for a stag weekend and fancy taking the group to a decent cigar shop out there and maybe then hit a terrace in the city to smoke a stick. Has anyone got any recommendations for either?

Also what is the price comparison between Spain & UK for Cigars?

Egg, do a wee search, I done a wee report about Barcelona when I came back about 2 years ago. The best shop is along Las Ramblas, ask to go down to their walk in humidor which is located beneath the shop, the shop is called Gimero or something similar.

Barcelona is a magic place for cigar hunting. My fave place is on Las Ramblas but the name escapes me.
Spanish prices are a fair bit cheaper than over here....keep an eye out for the newly released Bolivar RE... I really fancy those plus 2009's Ramon Allones might still be available

Good cigar shops, good food,good wine. Wish I was heading that way myself. Hope you bag some bargains at Las Ramblas.

Gimeno on Las Ramblas is a very good shop. Box purchases in the basement.

Prices are government controlled in Spain, they are the same all over the mainland. Places other than estancos such as bars, hotels, etc. (secondary market) will charge 15% more.

Click on "Consultar Precios" at the bottom to see current prices, the price column on the left is the estanco (authorised outlet to sell tobacco in Spain) price, prices on the left is for the secondary market.

There is a lovely square just off the Ramblas called "Plaza Real", cloistered all the way around with a few outdoor cafes. A very nice place to sit and people-watch and enjoy a cigar with a bottle of Albarino.

Gimeno is a great shop, nice staff speak good english ask to go down to the basement humidor

Just decided to head off to Barca in the summer looking forward to some smokes in the sun.

Would agree Gimeno is great just don't do what I did and intend heading back for your smokes on the holiday monday before you leave to find it's all closed up and have to go home empty handed

Haw haw!! That was hilarious. You were well pissed off. My suitcase could barely shut with all the smokes I'd bought.....

The madness kicks off tomorrow. Touchdown at 7. Going to make sure I make the most of some of those Spanish Prices and pick up some sticks to fill up my humi.
