  • cafedirect Mayan Palenque coffee.....

    hey all,
i noted on here a few days ago my thoughts on a coffee that came highly recommended by big_T, the self confessed 'coffee nazi' (lol, hope you don't mind me mentioning this trev)!!! the coffee was cafe direct's machu picchu blend, obtained in sainsbury's!!!

anyway, i run out of this delicious stuff in under a week!!! whilst in belfast's city center, i called into an oxfam fairtrade shop i knew stocked it!!! anyway, i bought another 2 bags of it and another to try, cafe direct's Mayan Palenque blend!!! it says on the packet, 'with delicate hints of vanilla and honey':

if i had to sum it up in cigar terms, it would be quite simply this: vegas robaina famosos!! delicious stuff indeed!!!

    all the best,

    alex

Good to know, i'm currently on the machu picchu and a range of the TTD coffees which aren't quite as good but still fully enjoyable, I believe they are a little cheaper and some are a 3 which I find more drinkable later in the day.

Do you like the Mayan over the Machu? I will hunt down a bag to try, always, ALWAYS open to suggestions and of course no offence taken no matter what you say! LOL

I assume you purchased the Mayan ground, do you know if beans are available?

Appears to be only in ground, I will check out the supermarket this week. Thanks for the heads-up.

            hey trev,
hell no, i don't prefer the mayan over machu!!! lol!!! that's like asking 'do i like vegas robaina or cuaba as opposed to my beloved bolivar or partagas', if that makes sense!! as soon as i tasted the mayan palenque, i thought vegas robaina famosos!!! i've a couple in the humidor i reckon i'll have to smoke with this coffee because of the similarities in taste!!!

btw, it was the ground version i bought (since i haven't got round to buying a grinder yet)!!! according to the website, it's only available ground!!! check you're local supermarkets or deli, or bite the bullet and go to an oxfam fair trade shop where they carry the entire range of cafe direct products!!!

            hope this helps,

            alex

Is it only oxfam that sell it?

Anyone seen beans for sale? Sounds like it's not one to miss trying

Does not come in beans but I know Waitrose carry the range and so do some Sainsburys.
