Just wanted to report that I've broken in all my bandmates to Havanas. I usually take something like a Petit Edmundo or a RASS to our rehearsals and they always swoon over the Cuban whiff. They all smoke cigarettes but have enjoyed cigars I've taken to a couple of pub garden herfs. I reckon they're in the fold as part-timers now, and I'm chuffed to brotherly bits. I wondered if anyone else has enlisted cigar converts.

I wish I could say yes.Ive tried to turn my brother onto them on a couple of occasions, with limited success.
Will have to keep trying though as Im getting a little bored of having nobody to share my passion with.

I have given a few people their first cigar & or Havana, they all managed to finish it & they enjoyed it but only one has become a regular cigar smoker. Still I know exactly what you mean; it's much more fun to share, it's even more fun if they ever get to the stage of buying one for you!

I am continually amazed at the number of blokes who see me smoking cigars and say they would like to smoke cigars too. I think that people who smoke cigars are just so damn happy whilst doing so, that it rubs off on others, and they want to share your satisfaction. The problem is that if your don't smoke, you need to be committed to cigars, and it can take a few before you genuinely start enjoying them. It's getting people over that initial period that is the tricky bit.

I got the brother in law into cubans, started at a christening and went from there, he is only part time but has got me to get him a few singles ( and even got me a couple) we generally manage to have a four way drinking session with the girls every 6 weeks or so then the day after we make dinner as family unit ( 9 of us Inc. Kids) which is when Keith and I have a 2 man herf so can't ask for more really ( yet)

Robusto you are obviously a cool dude that others will follow and aspire to. I do enjoy parting my little knowledge to would be cigar smokers and most want to try after they experience the flavour and aromas also the whole cigar etiquette. Though lack of advertising and availabilty inc price may deter many.
I always warn cigarette smokers not to inhale there first draw of a cigar, do they listen, nah !

My bandmates associate me with cigars as when we meet up it's always in appropriate surroundings to be on the case. Loads of colleagues I work with every day have no idea - and it's a distinction I like. I suppose, in short, with mates it's a laugh, and with work it's more serious. And whenever people show real interest, I push the issue!

To be honest i think i have become somewhat of a bore to my friends as far as telling them about the delights of smoking a good cigar. Even now when people see me smoking they say things like 'Jesus, you must be doing well' or 'did you get a pay rise?'.
