  • Thought I'd give this XO a try...

Been away from the forums for a while but good to be back...

Just got back from France and saw this XO cognac on offer in the supermarket.

?23 seemed a bargain for an XO. Not tried it yet as I opened a bottle of Remy Martin XO I bought in Duty Free at Folkstone. Lovely stuff.

Some lovely warm evenings with a cognac and Winston Churchill No. 10 which I'd not tried before and were very nice. Good times.

    Regards
    Jono

This is what I swear by: http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-1736.aspx

Though I've only had a few cognacs in my time, this seems lovely for the price.

I'm nothing like an expert on cognac but the name Guerin on the label should signify something quite special at ?23...for an XO.
Deano's hunted out what I think is probably the best VSOP for the money & more & the Premier cru XO is (or was, now it's gone!) a corker!

Just an afterthought, I'm more of a cold night, roaring fire, big cigar, cognac man!

If you can, go for single estate XO's; in my (all too extensive!) experience you'll pay roughly half the price for comparable quality compared with "brands"

(there are LOADS of chateaux who simply don't have the marketing oomph of the big boys, but are producing some incredible spirit)
"By the cigars they smoke, and the composers they love, ye shall know the texture of men's souls." John Galsworthy
"A good Cuban cigar closes the door to the vulgarities of the world." Franz Liszt
"The most futile and disastrous day seems well spent when it is reviewed through the blue, fragrant smoke of a Havana Cigar." Evelyn Waugh
"Remember, commander, no cigars before launch." a Cuban doctor's orders to an astronaut at Cape Canaveral
