looking box of cigars. Got this in my e-mail from Davidoff this morning. That's not just a box is more of a humi!

    New Camacho Liberty 2011 Release.

As with all editions of the Liberty Series, this new blend is constructed in our proprietary 11/18 format (48x54x48x6) and selected from our best concept blends of the year. This particular cigar, medium-to-full in body, is the perfect combination of balance, strength, and aroma. The sophistication of the 2011 Camacho Liberty is second to none. Filler tobaccos from (3) unique countries of origin provide for an intensely flavorful and complex experience that is truly extraordinary.

Each master box consists of twenty limited edition cigars packed and individually numbered in their own cedar coffins. These single cigar cedar coffins are best stored whole inside your humidor, and will allow the Liberty’s to age properly without absorbing the characteristics of other cigars stored in the same unit.

Total production: 40,000 cigars (2,000 boxes)

MSRP: $334.00 per box, $16.70 per cigar

Seemingly Dean, and certainly looked forward to and appreciated in the US. Camacho have been releasing a special edition Liberty each year since 2002. The 07 is particularly well thought of.

I've smoked one or two Camacho cigars that were gifted by Ron and thought them pretty good .... but have not smoked anything in that price league.

I am suspicious of any stick that needs so much packaging.

Is that individual cardboard outers? ...probably not ideal for ageing.

I also find the endless stream of nc limited editions confusing at best and cynical marketing at worst. Now i know cc's also suffer but nothing like the sheer volume hitting the US market.

Are these really words that should appear in the sentence, marketing-wise?

            Steve

            ** EDIT

By the way, I think they look amazing in that packaging...

And monkey66 - re: cardboard packaging; a 5 pack of Trini Reyes has each individual cigar in cellophane inside a cardboard box too...no different from the Camacho Liberty approach - and they're Cuban.

Yup and i don't think anyone is suggesting that is correct packaging for long term storage.

It always seem more about the bells and whistles than it does about the cigar in a lot of the US market.

Fair point, mate. In that light, what's the recommendation for the Reyes (in terms of how long to keep them in their original 5 pack packaging)?

They do look good and i hope the smokes reflect the excellent packaging, let us know, do they need much ageing ?

                      Monkey66,

As you can see below, each individual cigar is actually contained within it's own 'Cedar Coffin' - just perfect for ageing, I guess...

Like it or not, that's classy...(I am a sucker for this sort of attention to detail...)

They look good but I wont be in any rush to buy them.

The other thing to consider is '$16.70 is between ?10.00- ?11.00 just a few for sale at cgars for around the same price are bolivar coronas extra, boli royal corona, siglo one, diplomaticos no.1 and 3 a RASS for a quid more and i could go on but i am sure you get the picture. Now i know sizes vary but i think for the price i would pick a cuban all day long

Seems strange that they go to so much trouble to produce the box & the individual coffins inside it & then suggest taking them out of the box & aging in the coffins in your humi. Are they assuming the buyers of this sort of product aren't likely to have a humi big enough to take the whole box? That would be the younger & more inexperienced smoker perhaps?

Not necessarily Simon, not all cigar smokers have the space or finances to have a walk-in humidor at home, in fact, I would go as far to say that alot of everyday cigar smokers probably have 1, maybe 2 desktop humidors at the very most, and 25/50ct box of sticks with individual cedar boxes, is gonna take up alot of storage space inside a humidor.

I agree that these definitely look like nice cigars, but there's no point in all that extra packaging, I'd prefer that boxes of cigars simply come in a well made and sealed cedar box with the label and that's it... all this individual boxes for each cigar may look nice, but it's not very practical and it just adds unneccessary expence to the price of the cigars.

                              Jmho fwiw.
