  • Anybody tried the Padron Family reserve No 45?

The title really says it all. I've never tried a serious non-cuban cigar, but this particular offering was rated as the cigar of the year in 2009 by 'that' magazine (with the mauduro wrapper), and sat at 4th place in 2010 (natural wrapper). I can get hold of one of the mauduros through my local tobacconist but I'd have to pay ?38 for the privilege!!! Talk about making the behike line look cheap!I would love to hear from a British smoker who has tried this cigar, as to how it measures up and whether or not it deserved to beat cuba's offerings in 2009.

I have tried several (including smoking one with Jorge Padron). Nice cigar but not great for me and no way comparable to a ?30-40 Cuban, perhaps a ?10 one. Massivley overrated IMHO.

I have one sat in my humi at the moment, but everytime I go with the intention of smoking it I come back with a Cuban.

Smoked a couple and although a very nice pleasant cigar, no way are they worth that price..

        I did enjoy them tho..

Thanks guys! Hmmm... I think I'll keep this purchase on the back burner until I've broadened my cuban horizons

I dont know about spending that much on any cigar, cuban or not...However, i have tried the 1926 Padron and the Padron 2000's.

I must say the 1926 Padron is my favourite cigar to date.

Try the 5000 series ... very good smoke and as good as some Cubans.

My best non Cuban so far

These are not available in the UK but Don Pepin Garcia Black Label are great cigars. They are widely available in the US but can't fine them anywhere else.

I shoould be getting them on friday. Im really excited. The last time he came, he brought me a box of Padron 2000's which i thought were fantastic cigars and while i was in NYC i bought 5 Padron 1926 robusto's which i must say "blew my mind".

I am a huge fan of the Padron range. All of the cigars i have smoked have always burned amazing, never been plugged and there flavours were all so consistent. Very very well made cigars.
