There has been a huge change in attitude to humidification since I started in the industry over 30 years ago. At the old Robert Lewis shop the vast majority of cigars were not humidified at all - that was how the customers liked it!

Cigars stored by customers at cigar merchants were typically kept with just enough humidity to stop them drying out.

It was the American influence that got us all interested in humidity in the early 80's. Some people believe the more humid the cigar the better - can't argue with personal choice but some might say you are smoking water.

We aim for around the 68 mark in the shop.

    68-70%

For the most part I'm a 69 man myself.

Was that enough to lower the tone?

Well i have found that cigars from there original boxes seem to taste better to me, it is probably just in my head but they do, so i have decided to store them in the boxes and just keep singles in my humis.

i try to keep the RH between 63-68

I try to go about 68% or 69%. I would rather have it a bit on the high side than on the low.

I keep my humidor at 65-67%, and my Wineador at 65.
I do have a small travel humidor sat on my desk that I keep a few stick in (rotating every week) that I 'dry box' smokes that I will light up next.

Its weird that the first figures seen when first learning about aging cigars is 70/70, but everyone prefers a lower humidity.

I think nc's prefer to be stored at a higher rh than cc's. I don't know why but I'm sure I read that somewhere.

I read online that the Illusione Rothschildes should be stored at 70%, observations old boys?

The only time 69% has failed me is with the Aging Room cigars.

62-65 but it all depends on room temperature. Over 70 and they just don't burn properly or I find they might 'tunnel' along one side

Mine sit at about 63 to 68 depending on the room temp. They all smoke just fine.
