Q: Bovedas: constantly charged

I'm glad you brought this up Simon. My desktop humi humidifier wasn't doing the job so I switched to a 60g Boveda 72. That seems to be good for keeping the humidity at about 65% since I open the humi almost daily. Don't think it will last too long like this though so good to know I can recharge it!

I have 6 packs; 3 in the humi, 3 recharging and just swap them as necessary.

Actually interesting you brought this up; I've recently discovered a little secret about the Boveda companies product. It really is so simple, you're paying for a salt and distilled water mixture in a pack of thick paper, they call it genius! To be honest I am not in any way mocking their product (I use it for both humidors).
HOWEVER, when they go solid and crystallise they tell you it's time to get rid and put a new one in; the aim of that is to make way more profit than they would if they told the actual truth.
Put them in a tupperware with (like TJ said) a sponge, or you can even use polymer crystals because they hold loads of water and release humidity like made.
The way I did it was to put a smaller tupperware box into a bigger one, filled the small one with polymer crystals and doused it with distilled water leaving the lid on that one open. Put the dry boveda packs in the big box away from direct water contact and then close the lid. Put it on the window sill to speed things up, give yourself a day or 2 and they are back to FULL moisture!

Yeah, I would rotate with full Boveda's and recharge them separately.

Hey chico G,
I don't think Boveda packs were intended to be "recharged," but some have reported success doing exactly what you are thinking about - Place a damp sponge along with the Boveda pack in a limited space (tupperware) for a few weeks.
Good Luck, Amigo!

Q: Bovedas: constantly charged
Hi All,
I was thinking,
In my humidor I've got Boveda packs, that are keeping RH rock solid.
The Bovedas though will need recharging in time.
What about if I just add distilled water to the inner humidifier sponge, say every month or more?
Surely this will keep the Bovedas constantly charged?
