Don Pepin Garcia Original and Cuban Classics can both be had for $5-8 and are both fantastic in my opinion.

I have also bought some, I have only smoked one so far and experienced the same issues around construction/ band however it was an enjoyable smoke all the same. I also picked up some Viking Krona Petit Corona's, again only smoked one so far, another nice smoke and didn't suffer from any of the issues that the Robusto did.

I've just smoked a Viking Rhyton short torpedo, and it wasn't too bad. I've had one before whilst out for a walk and I think it overheated a bit and got a bit rough. This time around I'd say it was pretty good, in a slightly stronger than medium, middle of the road way. It's no bomb of flavour, but it's not terrible either with a cup of coffee. I didn't unband it until the burn was nearly down to the band, and there was a hint of the unwrapping aforementioned - however, the torpedo end seems to keep that under control (I think from the way it's constructed). I actually stretched it to nearly ninety minutes and it didn't require any corrections or relights (actually better going than the Monte Petit No.2 I had yesterday, which is theoretically a premium stick and needed both).

Just my two penneth (again! ;-)).

The Viking Nightshade Double Maduro Robusto is my daily smoke and it's ?4.69. I keep a dozen in my humidor at all times.

Now the downside. Maybe I got a bad batch, you tell me? But I found that the leaf cracked and peeled away very easily. This happened to maybe 4/5 of the 10 pack I had. I normally take the label off, but found that this caused damage with this particular cigar, so I leave it on until the cigar burns up to it.

I ordered some of these on the back of your recommendation. Can I say first off, I find the smoke very satisfying. I really liked it although I found that after a couple of weeks in the humidor it was nicer than when I first got them.

Yeah this is something I experienced too. Like you say also, I leave the band on until the gum's good and soft from the heat and then I remove it sloooowly. I'm fine with this personally but it's definitely a downside.

Following on from PeeJays recent poll on "reasonable priced Smokes" where ?5-?10 was the most popular in the poll, I thought we could list sub ?10 cigars that we have enjoyed so perhaps others could try. So far on my "would buy again" list and in no particular order -

Vegueros Mananitas ( I really enjoyed this)
Regius Hermosos Orchant Selection 2015

Seconded on pretty much all that except the Inka, and before anyone thinks I'm poopooing them, I've had several and found them to sometimes have hefty nicotine hits towards the end (enough that I was caught by it and a bit cross eyed). I'm sure they'd be better if I'd been sitting with a coffee (many smokes are!). I'd never turn one down.

My sub ten list includes pretty much everything suggested so far (especially the Monte 5 and the Mana?ita).

I'd suggest the addition of a Regius petit robusto (or even one of their tiny chicos, they're small but really well formed); a Quorum Shade grown PC or PR; the Independencia 1898 HC; Don Ramos #3 Tubed are pretty nice; even a Chinchalero Fuerte Maduro Novillo.

I'd also not dismiss our sponsors own blend Dutch coronas and half coronas, and particularly the Brasil Senorita, it's a sort of rustic sort of standing in a barn sort of a smoke (and nice whilst walking as a result).

If you also include "part pricing" the Quorum Little Q is a lovely little smoke, possibly available singly but nicer with its compadres in a tin.

To be fair - I'm not totally sure if the LFDC are sub ?10, as I've never actually seen these in the UK. I grabbed a box in Germany though and they were cheap as chips. Well worth it!
