How long to dry a cigar?

Oh no. Def not loose picking up smells. I'm definitely a Nazi about this. Has been in a zip lock bag usually. Problem is her indoors doesn't like it! (What!? Something else to moan about!)

So she got me a leather 3 stick holder .. tiny. Which I've used a couple of times ... placed inside a zip lock!

But good to hear not to panic too much over a short exposure to the air! Thanks

As for anything longer in terms of time must be transport involved. Given the postal options. If it's a 48 hour transport and the seal has failed. I guess ok? Bung it into the humidor and be patient. I've no experience of this however. Any success stories?
But if the transport would take a week or two! Well that's just scary. Any tales of woe?

I've had this a couple of times, one was a RyJ short churchilll I was given in a ziplock bag a week before I got home to my humi, another was a month old (!) BBF that a friend was given at a stag do and never smoked. I popped these away for a few weeks (think the BBF was about 3 months in the end) - and they both smoked up a treat!

I wouldn't panic at all - just put your sticks away and forget about them for a while, and they'll come good. 48 hours in more than okay. But get a tube! You don't want a cigar sitting in a pocket with all manner of scents etc getting at it!

I don't have a sealable tube. And the mini traveldor is not pocket sized. And a zip lock bag is too flimsy.

So I'll have a look into a tube. Obvs won't be able to accommodate everything. But sounds like the right tool for the job!

Would of thought couple of days at least, here in the uk when one places an order on a couple of cigars post today normaly receive the next day .

Yes i think its important to stress the difference that leaving out on a table at home is different to being unprotected in a pocket. Less smells and changes in humidity and temp sitting at home.

Use an old cigar tube, will keep fine for a week or two, take no space on your jacket.

Never have a cigar out exposed in your pocket imo. It sucks up all the smells of the jacket and will taste rough pretty quickly in my experience. Either stick it in a spare tubo or case. Or worst case a sealable sandwich bag. Will even stick one of the mini bovedas in if it might be there more than one night.

Ive ruined a few good sticks by not storing them properly when out... especially if you dont get to them until the next day. Had a stick taste of grubby earthy ash just last week after it had been in my pocket overnight. One of those situations where you think you will get to it that evening and you end up not getting the chance... such a waste.

So lets assume a cigar in a humidor say at 65RH of avg RG (nowadays 50!? ) if I take one out in the morning put it in a non air tight holder in my coat pocket and dont get to smoke it and its been out say 15hrs total mostly in air conditioned offices. Will it be dry?? Ruined?

Or always zip lock it or use a bulkier traveldor?

Is 48 hours considered dry but recoverable?
