I prefer thin ring gauge cigars over larger ring gauges. Unfortunately many of them are being rapidly discontinued. If I had my way, I'd bring back all the old long panatelas and ninfas.

    Don't Sell The Panatelas Short!

Good to know there are so many fans of the Bolivar GM. :

I bought my first boxes about a year ago and mi amigo returned his to me because they were a little plugged.

His loss! A few months of quite time in the humi did the trick and now they are excellent puros!.

If you seen the pics of my humi I've include in some of my posts, you may have noticed a row of the golden skins hangin' on the wall.

Yes Bolivar gold medals are very good, got a couple of boxes aging, technically regarded as a medium gauge at 42 (26 to 39 thin, 40 - 46 medium, 48 and above thick gauge....in europe) but they feel a little like a thin gauge due to the length, can be a little tannic when young, always look tempting with those shiny gold wrappers in the humi....

Im not a huge fan of smaller gauges, I take big draws on my cigars, I find when i smoke small gauges I 'rinse them' too much, they get too hot, purely smoking technique but I feel like im smoking a big fag or a hamlet, i like that gap to be FILLED with a big gauge, far away from any likeness of a hamlet or the sort.

dont get me wrong, Ive had a couple of nice ones, but It didnt really feel like the cigat experience to me. The cohiba exquisitos was nice, but again, i like a longer smoke. Its just me, im still exploring the waters in terms of brands and vitolas. When im a veteran smoker, im sure ill explore the smaller gauges

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions everyone, great stuff.

I knew I was in the right place for great advice (... and economic ruin probably ) but I'm even more impressed than I thought I'd be.

AC really interesting considerations on fashions and very useful tip on the right way to smoke them, much appreciated.

    Thin to Win!

Two other very nice Panatelas are the Bolivar Gold Medal (165 X 43) and the Monticristo D EL 05 (143 X 43).

Profile of the Charlotte was very similar to the Serie du Conny#3 which `replaced' it ...

Haven't had a Charlotte for yonks - got a box of 1998s, but don't want to start them 'cos they won't last
