Pros and Perils of using turbo flames

Use a triple flame torch that came from The U.S. via e-bay. Works well. Have a very fancy Colibri with the smoothest motion imaginable, but only one jet so given the weather, I stick to old 3 flame!

Have totally converted now. I know when it starts embering gently I know i've gotten the right height, I then lower it down and blast it in for the kill. A perfectly lit cee gar.
Only thing that bothers me with my millets one that sometimes it just konks out and refuses to light. Rotating the +/- wheel gets it going again. I feel as if I have to keep a can of butane close by just incase

Has to be the turbo for me...gets the job done without fail and a minimum of fuss.

I always use matches or cedar sticks. Always smoke indoors so there is no issue with the matches going out.

I've been using this for my last 2 cigars and it's gone down pretty well.
On a budget NC stick, I literally just blasted the foot of the cigar, it didn't light that well, I think the foot was a bit singed, and the middle didnt get hit much, didnt smoke that well, but was lit as ash fell.
The next was an oliva. I did the same, held the cigar vertical and just held the cigar above the flame and let the glow....grow and grow, and then I just moved the cigar with my hand in a circular motion so it all got it. Instantly and amazingly lit! Think I will use this all the time now, nice and easy!
Was a bit scared before because I thought it could be too powerful, but i'm taming the beast rapidly!

I will use my dual flame jet lighter allllllll the time. I always have it on me, it ALWAYS lights, and it has 3 differrent punch sizes on the back of it.
Bought in April 07. Best 30 bucks I have spent.
Cons - I have found its getting harder to get butane here to suit this lighter style, with the small nozzel. Might have to get a case of the stuff.

After trying to nick some of the lads Dupont lighters on the HERF, MrsIV got me one and I LOVE it..

Here in the US of byghodz A, we don't fuck around. See-gar smoking is a MANLY endeavo(u)r which requires you use a MANLY light.

Xtend single flame torch/jet lighter over here.
Over recent months I've got into the habit of gently toasting my cigars up to full glow (with an occassional light blow to the foot), blowing through after this and off we go. A flamed equivalent of the three match method?
EDIT:
Pros for me are an efficient and accurate flame. Perils would include get your aim wrong and you're doing damage quickly.Last edited by cj121; 04-01-2010, 12:16 AM.

Like many fellow BOTL's, I tend to go for a torch lighter when firing up.
However, if the mood takes me I'll occasionally fall back on a burning cocktail to do the deed, usually a 'Flaming Homer' (otherwise known as a 'Flaming Mo'), the addition of cough syrup to the mix reduces any possible hacking should the 'stoogie' prove a little troublesome to the throat, and the accompanying beverage pairs nicely with a good Cuban.
Remember 'Fire makes it good'

I use a Turboflame torch. Much easier to control than anything else I reckon.
