Not a fan of cardboard, and I hope habonos stop using it. Ive had 3 packs of esplendidos and epi 2s which tasted crap after long periods in card, same goes for a 5er of trini fundadores.

I had a single cigar in cardboard packaging a while back and it developed bad mould. The only thing suggested to me was that. The cardboard was creating a damper micro climate in that box

Ah Scotty, guys, I see, okay well, I reckon I will keep them in the Lock and Lock tuppaware box with my other current singles smokes for probably up to six months, ie they should be gone within six months. Now all my singles are in a cedar cigar box within the tupparware, so a little hypocritical not to take them out of their paper box, but they are so safe and nice in there. I'm keenly sampling lots of these 3 box samplers to know for sure which larger boxes I will purchase later on, so I will burn through them. But its a bit of a bother you see; the Trinidad Extra Robusto's are in their own single boxes within the 3 box box! I don't know how old they are, i didn't see a date on the boxes anywhere. I just figured since they are pretty long sticks they'd stay intact from my fingering, but would they absorb the paper of the box or is this a good thing since the humidity in the tuppa goes up like a rocket after a few days. Oh what to do. Talk about storm in a tea cup.

Question, I have just been given a box of three trinidad robusto extra and Hoyo DC both in cardboard (3 size) box and I have them in my tuppador, wondering if I should take them out of the paper slip box they were sold in?

not enough info for a truly 'informed' opinion..unless you say what your objective is:
Save or Smoke,
Save or Smoke,
Time Period?
How old are they now...
until we know that, ALL the other answers are as useful as the old 'motorbike ashtray' no matter how well intentioned.

It doesn't matter if you plan to smoke the cigars soon. If you want to age them a bit, take them out these petacas, unless you love to taste carboard in your cigars.
If you compare two identical cigars, let say 2 years old, one kept in the center of the bundle in a 50 cab, the other from a cardboard box, you will find that the one from the cab almost always smells and tastes better…

I quite like the look of them so I leave them in their boxes. If the boxes are good enough for merchants to safely keep them in, they're good enough for me
