Nope, you haven't misunderstood.... I just think that unflavoured cigars are overall superior.

i get some in advance, any brand recommendations on non-cuban ?
Everything VTG said. Hard to go wrong with an Oliva Series V. Over all Padrons are a very earthy smoke. My Father is made by Jose "Pepin" Garcia. Everything he does has been solid. A. Fuente is very good. I tend to like the Hemingway lines and anything with a sungrown wrapper they do. Nothing wrong with a Rocky or Alec Bradley they are just not to my liking right now.

In regards to non Cubans. I've had some very good ones, not the same as a good Cuban but when they're coming in at half the price it's hard to argue with them.

Cgars do there own inka and Nicaraguan blends which are very good in my experience and has been mentioned so is Rocky Patel.

Nice wrote up btw may look into some more flavoured cigars as I dabbled once with a honey one but apart from that not bothered.

If your address was in your profile I could send you an NC stick to try.

    Then there's Dunhill and Davidoff.
