I am somewhat familiar with the la Aurora line and I've never seen those little buggers. Nice story PJ? Looks like a fun stick👍

started a topic La Aurora Principes Chico Chocolate

    La Aurora Principes Chico Chocolate

When I went hunting for cigars on holiday in Tenerife last year all I found were shelves of cheap Canarian tourist crap drying outside any semblance of a humidor. Behind the tills I noticed some La Aurora chocolate and vanilla cigars. Recognising the name I risked a pack of each and was pleasantly surprised to find them very smokeable. They were sold in packs of five individually sealed in foil for just under five euros a pack. They were obviously machine made and a little square in shape with a wrap over foot. The wrapper tasted sweet like an Acid and they burned with a distinct chocolate flavour that went down very well with my wife.
Back in the UK having had a couple of nice little uns from Mark I looked these up and found them at Black Swanne Tobacco albeit at twice the price. I opened one up today and found that Chicos is not just another name, these are completely different cigars. They are still individually wrapped but a lot slimmer coming in at 4.75" x30. The wrapper is a proper Colorado Claro that almost looks hand rolled and smelt faintly of chocolate but had no artificial sweetness to it at all. It was quite soft and so was easy to light with a soft flame.
Once again no chocolate detectable at all but a nice mild smoke that lasted me half an hour and burned perfectly even when set down. The only down side was a slight cigarette aftertaste.
They are apparently machine made in the La Aurora factory from the cuttings of handmade cigars and it didn't taste like the sweepings that I hear go into the fake cigars.
If anyone goes to Tenerife this year keep an eye out for a packet of the ones I wanted please.
