Have to say that personally there are sticks i would pay 35 for. Siglo 6, esplendidos, opus x to name a few. I wouldn't go much above that price though. Had a behike and i prefer the siglo 6. Above 30 odd quid you are paying for the name, as you say there is only so much the manufacturer will pay for the raw leaf.

If I win the Euromillions tonight, I'll buy a box of everything... But until then, I have to say, there's plenty of delicious cigars out there at a lower price point. Though as I mentioned, had I paid for this cigar, I would not have been disappointed. It does deliver.

Yeah I tried one of these although a different vitola and wasn't overly concerned about getting hold of more. I prefer a stronger more intense flavor. I don't do delicate. [emoji16]

    I probably lack refinement myself!

Tastes differ I guess... I thought it made the cigar appear cheap. Rather unrefined. But gladly, the flavour is nothing like the band...

The Atabey band is designed by the same guy who designed the latest Cohiba bands - I think he owns the Atabey brand too!

Nice review. I know some were wanting to hear about these [emoji106]
I did not read anything about these so far. I can't taste much cuba in there, but it is a quality cigar.

    started a topic Atabey

    Atabey

This cigar is from secret santa. I have not heard from it before.

The wrapper bright yellow brown and of fine structure. Cold smell seems to promise a mellow soft and sweet taste, but we will see.... [emoji5]

The first puffs bring a mix of grassy notes, white pepper and sandlewood. It has quite a zing to it as well. Not soft and mellow at all. We'll see if it calmes down as it progresses.

Now it has calmed down a bit on the pepper side and the wood notes take over. The Ash is beautiful. The draw is very light and one has to be careful not to smoke it hot.

Full into the first third the cigar has picked up sweetness. Not a complex flavour, but pleasant. Fresh.

The Ash fell off just after the photo was taken. The flavour develops nicely. There are now nuts and bits of leather coming into the mix, adding some deeper notes to the profile. Very nice indeed, a great journey so far.

On the last third now, the light and sometimes citrusy notes are gone and the leather is dominant now. Sweetness has also subsided and leaves the overall flavour on the dry side.

Towards the end the sweetness comes back once more and finishes with a nice medley of leather, honey, wood and lemon.

In summary, a great cigar. Beautiful flavour transitions from beginning to end, but always shows its own distinctive profile.

The flavour might not be to everyone's taste, but one has to appreciate the skillful blend in these. I wouldn't necessarily get a whole box, but a bunch of singles for when I am in the mood...

The biggest downside to this cigar is by far the awful band. I would have ripped it off before lightning the cigar if it wasn't for this review.
