I got one as a present from my brother and I was planning to let it rest for three months in the humidor. Do you think I should give it a full year or more?

As Luis said, and the original review, I found it too much, one I won't be getting.

Of all the EL's I have smoked, I have found this to be very disappointing. To me, they don't have that Boli profile or punch. Kind of like vanilla ice cream.

Not a fan either after two tries .Found it too strong with rather unpleasant smoke and smell. will let the box sleep for some time

I'll be honest I found it a really ordinary smoke... nothing to write home about at all.

I only know, i would spend my money for better Bolivars such as Belicosos Finos or Coronas Gigantes.

At the very least 3 years...!?!

I missed out on some Trini EL's that were up at a good price, and didn't want the same to happen with this years crop of EL's if there was something worth having, hence the question.
I guess I was really after something that I could dip into confidently from day one without it sitting around for a few years. So, perhaps these aren't for me at the moment. Probably just as well as the list of 'possibles' is already making my wallet nervous.
Did you hear that? I just opened it and it squeaked!

I agree with monkey66.
The few Petit Belicosos i smoked were not worth the money. Maybe in 3-5 years, or not. I don?t know.

I do not think you need to say sorry for reviving an old thread, LOL.
All I can add to this is I love the Bolivar Belicosos Finos, I am smoking my way through a 2001 cabinet when I am in London (sadly not mine). I really like this cigar and BURN to buy a cab of 25 of my own.
I looked forward to smoking its smaller brother when I went to the tasting at the Boisdale. I have had this cigar twice now and have been bored each time. I do not find it particularly strong but only the Cain has given me pause for thought strength wise. I just cannot enthuse about this cigar, perhaps with a few years on it. They are only available in dress boxes, not cabinets which makes them a little less attractive to me as an ageing proposition.

My apologies for resurecting such an old thread, but I was curious to see if other members had experienced these first hand.
I'm tempted to get my hands on some slightly shorter smokes for when time is an issue, and was considering some of the current crop of 'Edicion Limitadas' such the (above) Boliva and/or the Partagas Series D No. 5 and H. Upmann Magnum 48, so was wondering what opinions other forum members had on these sticks.
Anybody got any recommendations?

Bolivar Petit Belicosos Edicion Limitada 2009
So I am not sure if this is a fair review or not.....
Having rested this new Edicion Limitada (purchased from Harrods on Sat) for at least 2 days I decided to fire it up.
Appearance - Stunning, dark brown silky wrapper, lovely construction.
Gave it a snip and tried the draw pre-light. Very easy pull but not much going on dry-taste wise. No sweetness or aroma to speak of.
Went out into the sunshine and fired her up. Easy draw, loads of smoke, even burn, nice silver-white long ash.
The only thing I didn't like was the taste. By didn't like I mean (to my pallet) almost unsmokable. I found this stick strong (hurt my throat) and harsh. The taste was not particularly nice and I began to feel nauseous. I thought to myself 'you lightweight, can't you handle a full bodied cigar'. I forced myself to smoke a bit over half way and then dumped it. This was by far the least enjoyable quality Cuban I have ever smoked.
I have been questioning myself over this but I have to blame the stick. I am no stranger to full bodied smokes (D4/RASS/Magicos etc) and frequently enjoy them. I did not expect such a new stick to be at it's best but I did imagine it would be smokable without making me feel sick.
I am concious that this may be a one off so don't be put off by my experience. Who else has smoked one of these and what was your take?Tags: None
