Happy you liked the review(s) guys .

Simon, again, thank you for your review of the KDT which made me decide to try them. The idea of comparing a couple (or why not more) smokes comes in part from my "previous life" as a trainee sommelier/wine taster (I guess it's time to write that profile I've been putting off ): when you taste wines you never have only one glass to try because comparing different bottles of a similar grape variety/area/vintage makes it easier to catch subtle differences. Clearly you cannot taste cigars in the same way you taste wine (... although ), but for me it makes fixing on paper the aromas and sensations I get a lot easier.

Having said that, sometimes I just want to smoke that one stick that has been sitting in the humidor invitingly for a few weeks/months and then... bugger the bloody comparisons

Good good review. I actually think i might invest in a box, or maybe try and get hold of some singles before I buy a whole box :P. I shouldn't really though not after I just bought a box of Cohiba robustos .

MT, thank you for an enjoyable review. I like your idea of comparing two similar cigars to each other... Perhaps we should arrange a cigars 'top trumps' competition on this basis...

It sounds like you had a very similar experience to mine with the Fonseca. Mine just seemed to go a little flat in the middle ( ), otherwise, the notes seem to be fairly comparable. It's definitely a stick that I would have again if time was in short supply - and at current prices, I may well pick a box up if I get a new humi).

Now that's an idea... a degree in Cuban Cigars, with plenty of practical on field work and "research material" paid by the scholarship ....

... there would probably be quite a fight to get into that if it actually existed !

what a fantastic review, you've almost convinced me into buying a box of these fonseca's!!!! lol!!! especially since i loooove tobelorone!

i also have been looking to get some smaller cigars for the winter coming in since i do all my smoking in the back garden! i don't fancy the thoughts of sitting in the cold for an hour or more to enjoy my simple pleasures! i've found that smaller cigars such as the cohiba (siglo I, exquisitos, panatela & maduro secretos), partagas (short & tres petite corona), montecristo no. 5. romeo y julieta cedros no. 3 and the trinidad reyes (which i only tried about 4 nights ago) all last me around 45 minutes! i'm sure you've tried all of these........

    all the best,

    alex
Hi Alex, happy you liked the review.

I saw the prices and if I had space in my humi, I'd probably go for that (I should have listened when people told me to buy a bigger humi ) but probably I'll try a couple more Fonsecas before deciding. Also, if you read Simon's review you'll see that his experience wasn't as good as mine so maybe the KDT vary a bit in quality. They one I had was from a box dated July 2007. Also the Ttoblerone aroma/taste was mainly, pre-light and a little in the 1/3, but not really evident in the smoke.

I have a few Perlas (Monte and Diplomaticos 5s, Cohiba Siglo I and Petit Punch) in my humi which I'll probably review in a similar way. The romeo y julieta cedros no. 3 and the trinidad reyes sound like somethin to try next!

    Cheers! MT
