  • Cohiba Siglo I

So as a Christmas treat bought some Cohiba Siglo I never have really had the money to spend a lot on Cohibas so just wanted to give it a whirl as it has some solid reviews.

So on the Pre light a very barnyard like smell and a Pre light draw a slightly coco dusty hayness..... So on the light a very tight draw and I mean very tight.

Now I enjoy a tighter draw but even I found it extraordinarily tight so much had to cut a 2nd time to open it up a little more. Copious amounts of smoke for such a little stick and the first major flavour a very pleasent and smooth white pepper especially at the back of the throat.

Slight walnutty woodiness but predominantly pepper and this persisted throughout until the final third when the peeper subsided a little and a cocco like milky nutty coffee with that peeper on the finish a rather pleasent smooth flavourful cigar.....

However the question was it worth the money? Mmmm I don't think so, its a lovely cigar rates up there with Cigars I've had however I'd say I enjoyed the H Upman Corona Junior more than this and much more reasonably priced in comparison.

I'd also say I've enjoyed other New World's so by no means a bad cigar infact a good cigar but over priced I'd say without question.

Hi Rob, good to see a review again &one about a cigar many like to try for the first Cohiba experience. Seems you were unfortunate to have such a tight draw &harsh flav. I assume if you bought this recently then it would have been very fresh, possibly even from 2021? It is generally acknowledged that Cohiba's need at least 5yrs, to start to forfill their promise & tubes slow maturation down.

Price v value is obviously subjective but I have always thought Cohiba's cost 33% more than similar sized Cuban's but only 20% tastier. But when you get avreally good one they are worth every penny IMHO. With the proviso that UK prices are silly, buy a few on hol's, throw them in the back of your humid &bring one out for a future birthday in 5yrs time. I would say the Sig I & II are my least fav's & I don't rate them as good value but try the Exquisitos or C.E. &hopefully you'll appreciate a far better smoke. I just tried to pm you, not working, cis your in box full? Please message me when you can.

Hi Simon it wasnt so much harsh. These for once were bought from my local tobacconist. I do like to frequent them when I can despite the price point involved. As I say not a bad experience just not a mind blowing one for me.....
As for PM'ing I would appear not to have that privilege or function though I am available on other mediums like FB to PM. Have a good new year.

        Hi Rob,
It would appear you have never requested PM's, ask Deano nicely & I'll send you a couple of vintage Cohiba's to try

Thanks I've just posted a request and I'll tag Deano as well. For info.

Thank you for your review! It’s one of the main reasons I recently joined this forum!

It just so happens I had a Siglo 1 around a week ago and really enjoyed it. I didn’t have any issues with draw - but it did need relighting. I had to use my lighter 3 or 4 times.

The taste of the cigar for me was delicious - dark chocolate, hay, espresso - it didn’t change much but wasn’t expecting it from such a small stick. I enjoyed it from start to finish and it lasted around 30 mins.

Highly recommend - however I am a little shocked by the current price - I received mine in sampler and may look to get a little more for my money.

I've just seen that the Medio Siglose are over £50, I paid €18 when I first bought these!

The price is shocking now. I bought a box from Down Under 2 year ago for $299US....£10 each!
I've got one box left and I'll be slowly going through them
