What was your first cigar...

My first Cuban was a Partagas de Luxe in 1997 or so. I used to smoke Dominican Dunhills at the time but that is long over.

CAO 1998 Maduro torpedo. Loved it, but my taste has since changed.

The first cigar i smoked was a Vasco da Gama, but the cigar that made me feel how good this little sticks are was a Cohiba Exquisito.

choix supreme is a hell of a smoke. only had 2 of them myself but they were both very good smokes......back to the swishers.....

When I was about ten years old I got my mom to buy a 5$ cuban cigar for me to give to my great uncle as a present. I never got around to mailing it to him, so it sat on my shelf for a few years totally un-humidified. One day, having been thoroughly tired of cigarettes I "borrowed" my my mom's friend, I decided to spark it up. I smoked half of it myself, then a few days later went to a buddies house and proceeded to smoke the rest of it with three other guys in the woods. Have no idea what it was. Probably a short-filled cigar. I remember it had orange packaging. My first REAL cigar was a Choix Supreme. I fell in love right there. I may have smoked it too quickly and got so sick I just about threw up, but I realized that day that I loved cigars.

Funnily enough, my first hand made cigars, were RyJ No.2 Tubos that I picked up at RAF Akrotiri on the way back from the gulf on R&R. Of course it wasn't in the EU then, so I got them tax free in the shop in the small lounge we were restricted to whilst awaiting our next flight. At the most I think it was about ?40 for a box of 25, and I've never went back from Cuban since then

WOW!! Its amazing to hear someone else with a similar start into this world. My first cigar was from RAF Akrotiri too - I was there with the ATC at 16 with Jimmeh and another fella names James. I had an RyJ corona the other fella has the same too. I remeber Jimmeh saying that He didn't like smoking and was against it. My, my, my, how the mighty have fallen - Graciously with fine sticks, but fallen nonetheless lol.

My first cigar was a house blend that was hand rolled in the shop. The shop was located in the Ybor City part of Tampa, FL. I do not recall the name of the shop, but I guess the cigar was good.

I probably would not like it now if I smoked it, but at that time, it was good enough to get me started on my love affair with cigars. The only problem is that my love affair has become much more expensive. I guess thats true with any love affair. My wife has become much more expensive too!!!

My first habano was less than a year ago. It was a Bolivar Belicoso Fino.

Having smoked what the newsagent on the corner sold for about 6-8 years, my first Cuban I can remember was in the smoking lounge of Stapleford Park, a nice country hotel, a Monte No.4, must have been about 96/97, the room is probably non smoking now.... I've been to this place quite a lot, although not since moving to the I.O.M, and can recommend it if you want to take the good lady away for the weekend.

If the smoking lounge is still operational - would make a fab herf weekend, shooting in the afternoon, nice big luxury dinner, say six course with fine wines, cheeses, port and then some cognac or fine malts with a good cigar, swim and full massage in the morning or perhaps a horse ride then off home...

Maybe the RyJ is the ultimate cigar? Why else would so many be lured into the world of finely rolled tobacco from one marque... maybe lots of people started with others and were scared away? I think the RyJs are great line, not just for those starting out on their cigar journey, but also for those at various pit-stops.
