Which Cohiba?

The Behikes ive smoked have been very good if they age well then they are top of my list, occasionally i have a siglo VI from a box i bought and each time they get better. Great draw , constuction , creamy , go for it.

I've had only one secreto and robusto, and am working my way through a box of Siglo II's--all of them have been fantastic, though the II's are definitely in a price range I can manage and make for a nice, relatively shorter smoke. I didn't find the robusto to be radically different from the II, but I'm not sure what its age was.

To date I've only tried the Panatelas, Exquisitos, Siglo I, II and Robusto.

I've only been happy with the Siglo II. The Robusto I possibly smoked too soon (The day after I got the pack I think) the others I thought were bland and didn't really get what the mystique was about.

I've got a few others. Siglo VI, 2 x Siglo VI a Genios a Magicos and a box of Secretos .... but they're (especially after Monkey's 'age' comment) are all going to be staying in the humi for a year or two now to see how they go.

I've tried them all except the Siglo III. The robustos are not bad...not as good as a JL2 or RASS. The espi is a very good smoke too but the best are the Sublimes, lanceros and the VI....all stunners!!!!

Im not too keen on the robustos but an aged siglo V is almost perfect.

Some good calls on the aged stock steve - I'm going to print a few off and leave them around the house - well, Christmas is coming (I've seen the bloody mince pies in the supermarket already!) and you never know, somebody might take the 'hint'.

For the difference in price (?18.50 for a Robusto, or ?26 for a Siglo VI) it makes more sense to go for the later. You're getting around an extra hours smoking time from the 'fat-boy' for only ?7.50 more!!!

I wish it made sense.

P.S. Can't argue with the monkey, age works wonders on some of these. I just gotta be strong and leave them alone for a bit!

In the past and also now Robusto and Esplendidos are the best on the cohiba line. But now absolutely behike 56 is the best absolutely!

I love all the Siglo range, havent tried a Robusto yet, but i love all the Maduros.

i agree that the cohiba robusto is the cheapest entry point into the cohiba 'quality' range (you know what i mean, lol)!!! the only problem is, here in belfast, the cohiba robusto is ?18.50, same price and a tubed RYJ or punch churchill!!!! for an extra ?1.50, i could get an H&F aged (1998) churchill (ryj, hdm, punch).......

they're good, just not that good imo!!!

however, the siglo 2 (?11) and 6 (?26 approx) ARE great value for money regular production cigars imo!!!!

on another point, i'm not as fortunate as you guys on the mainland who have the opportunity to buy cigars with real age on them, so i've not been able to try, say, a 10yr old cohiba robusto, or an original release siglo VI!!!

the linea classica cohibas i've had (robustos & esplendidos) had a couple of years on them when i bought them as singles from the habanos shop here in belfast (miss moran's)!!! they were lovely cigars, some were very flavoursome and yummy, some not so (i wouldn't go as far as saying bland)!!! i've never had a 'nasty' cohiba, just some that didn't seem up to scratch!!! you get a couple of great ones, all singing all dancing........ then you get a 'shy' one, if you get what i mean (one with a lack of real flavour)!!!! this has only been with the robustos and esplendidos i've had!!!! the siglo's have been 'on the mark' everytime, especially the siglo VI!!!

on another point, i'm not as fortunate as you guys on the mainland who have the opportunity to buy cigars with real age on them, so i've not been able to try, say, a 10yr old cohiba robusto, or an original release siglo VI!!!

I love Cohibas but IMHO they must have a minimum of 2 years or else they can be plain nasty, ideally 5+.

I suspect quite a lot of the negative comments come from people who try them too young and are very disappointed (especially at the price point!).

The maduro range is a very different profile. all the Siglo's are good (my preference is for the II, IV, V and VI's) as are the robusto's, I find the Esplindido's a bit boring.

hey dave,
i normally shy away from cohibas due to the prices, but when i do splash out, i generally go for the robusto, siglo2, siglo6 and, on the VERY RARE OCASSION, the esplendido!!!

tbh, there's been times i've felt cheated when buying cohibas!!! in my experience, i've found the robusto and esplendido very hit or miss (maybe it comes down to high expectations), however, when they're good, they're VERY good!!! also, i've never had a bad siglo 2, 3 or 6!!! don't know if this answers your question.....

i've been tempted (but ultimately resisited) in the past to try the smaller ring gauges, such as the panatella, exquisitos, corona especial!!! it all comes down to price and the fact i like a little more 'oomph' for my money, hence why i stick to partagas and bolivar!!!!
