Having been a Scotty Cameron collector for quite a few years, I recently decided to downsize my collection quite considerably. I came to the realisation I had a whole bunch of stuff that never saw the light of day and decided if I wasn't going to use it then it was going to be moved on to someone who would.

It got me thinking as to the similarities between collecting cigars and golf stuff. First of all I think the thrill of the chase is a major reason I love this stuff, the hunt for that illusive stick maybe you've been chasing for years in some cases, the impromptu opportunity to get your hands on something special or the gift of a little something from someone who knows you may appreciate it more that them. These are some of the reasons I get great enjoyment from this hobby.

on the other hand there's the frustration of missing out on the one you really want, the realisation when you finally get your hands on something you've waited for, that it really wasn't all you'd hoped it might be or that it just really wasn't for you when you actually get it in hand.

For me the one big difference is that at least when you put a cigar away to get some age on it, it's because you're hopefully going to get the pleasure of smoking it one day, golf stuff you can use it right away knowing it's not getting any better with age 😀.

I would be interested to hear what do you guys think.
It's not the arrow, it's the Indian !
