Not had the opportunity to listen to any top end headphones yet. They look way out of my league!

Luckily scanning through music on a hard drive tends to give most of that but as I listen to more and more streamed music I wish they could replicate that experience better.

Roon is excellent for learning your music listening styles and history, suggesting content based on your current playlist, your library tags. I think they offer a month free trial of the system -

I bet that makes lock down run a little smoother. I've got some serious set-up envy.

We had some great Totem Arro speakers that had to go to my brother when our daughter started crawling/walking, great for the size of the room but the footprint is tiny and I was worried she'd either knock them over our push her little fingers in a tweeter.

What headphones have you got there?

It's definitely a bit of a faff sometimes but it's nice to actually have and own something tangible to collect.

When Bruce Willis took Apple to court about his hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of iTunes purchases not being able to be handed down to his kids, it made me think twice about purchasing digital.

We use Spotify to listen to some of the records we have still as it's just convenient and can play throughout the house, but it's also good to see the artists actually farm a bit of money from the vinyl as they're lucky to see pennies from Spotify etc.

Nice. I like a bit of hi fi. But like Peejay went digital ages ago. Forever streaming now. I've never been an album geek. More mood genres. So Spotify or radio works well.

I do like to listen to some quality hifi recordings occasionally though. CD.

Got some old power amps driving old kef refs.

With the right source can sound divine. And great for movies too!

Not had a turntable for probably 35 years now!

    Enjoy!

Lovely! Is that a 1200 rather than the 1210?

It can be a bit like cigars what you think is the budget for a setup grows just like the value of our collections do!

I think its about slowing down just like with cigars. The problem with digital is that its too easy. I end up switching tracks all the time and my mind wanders to something else. With vinyl you have to give it more attention and just listen to a side. Its not for everyone i get that. Im not one for music in the background. I like to give it my full attention if i can.

For me the vast majority of the time I listen to digitally streamed lossless music but for setting time aside to properly listen to music I love vinyl.

For me there?s something to be said for pouring a drink and then the ritual of picking a record, warming up an amp and everything else it involves to chill out and focus on just music and do nothing else. The opposite of a convenience I find helps in the modern age where everything else is so rushed.

Currently I use a Rega P3 or Sonos streamer into an arcam DAC then a Rega Elicit-R into Tannoy XT8s which I am trying to convince will do me for a long time now. Have a few custom built valve headphone amps too based on various schematics.
