    Pink Floyd - Pulse
Ute Lemper - Berlin Cabaret Songs
Die Toten Hosen - Der Lied von der Clockwork Orange
    Wagner - Ring des Niebel?ngen
Loudon Wainwright III - More Love Songs.
    Beatles - Abbey Road.

All a bit eclectic I know, but as George Michael once said, "Listen without Prejudice...."

Blood on the Tracks - Dylan
    Desire - Dylan
    Anything by Matt Monro
Leaning on a Lampost - George Formby

A bit diverse I know, but just a few of the songs/artists that lift my spirits.
    There are many more.

Metropolis Pt 2 and Images and Words both nearly made my top 10 but I have fallen out of love with DT in recent years. Metropolis is the last album they made that I can listen to start to finish, they need to get back to writing songs instead of lengthy technical exercises!

Not an easy one to answer this!

    After a quick think:

Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a memory. (The album that got me into DT, introduced to me by by drumkit teacher)
Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings (probably only because it's their most recent album)
Dream Theater (AGAIN!) - Any early album (pre 1994)

And on the more 'refined' side:
    Anything by the following:
    Rachmaninov
    Shostakovich
    Rimsky-Korsakov
    Mussorgsky

    (Yes, I have a Russian fetish )

Aye. Good band but I can see why they'd never become a house-hold name!
"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to X-Factor:THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS". Can't see it somehow

BBC 6 music is on all the time round here, in the house, car & crash helmet. Not in my man cave though, that's where the record players are

I was listening to 6 Music last night waiting for a program to come on and heard some truly amazing stuff.

    Absolutely.

I had to "learn" Aretha Franklin's version of Son Of A Preacher Man for a dep job a couple of weeks ago. I had only heard the Dusty Springfield version up to that point.

Bloody hell! What a discovery! I love gospel-y stuff and this version is an absolute joy. It's life-enhancing stuff.

Funny thing is I've been close to angry with myself for not having heard it along the way! (I do love her piano style, and her voice is one of the best).

Having two sons with wide musical tastes means I hear new stuff all the time. I've said on here before I am glued to Radio 4 and rarely listen to music radio so what I hear them listening to is often a revelation.

I'm listening to loads of Eminem currently. I think his stuff - lyrics and music - is class.
