Nice looking Peterson you got there is it a p lip.

It is [MENTION=13416639]TonyN[/MENTION]. The sensation is quite alien at first but I think I now prefer it to the standard fishtail mouthpiece.

I quite like aromatics... less the heavy wet american flavours... but anything with plum/ rum style combos is usually a very acceptable bowl. give them a try

I'll definitely give them a go, have some of the Peterson blends on the way soon.

Getting used to this now! Managed to get my last bowl to stay lit for almost the entire duration. Just a couple of relights, one being when I put it down for 30 minutes.

Def try nightcap ... 965 is good too not as heavy on the Latakia.

It’s nice to have a mix of aromatic and non . My go to is mainly nightcap however I enjoy the diesel taste of lancer slices lol .

Pipe smoking is definitely an art form! I'm currently experimenting with different packing methods as I know I haven't got it right yet. The thing that surprises me most is how much flavour there is in the Gawiths American Cherry and Vanilla that I bought. It actually tastes like it smells, which I wasn't expecting. I think that selecting pipe tobacco is more of a B&M job for me, at least for the time being. Really love the Cherry and Vanilla though...

Looks like a nice pipe. I find that bent pipes like this sit more comfortably in the mouth rather than straight pipes.
Look forward to hearing what you think about your choice of tobacco when you try it.

That's what I was told by the staff there as well (Pat over at John Hollingsworth in Solihull; very helpful and great service). I must admit that after smelling all of the different tobaccos, the one I chose was what Pat was going to recommend. I also liked Black and Brown (I think that's what it was called) so will pick some of that up next time if this goes well!
