Anyone tried any of the SpeyMalt range of MacAllan? This 28 year old aged in refill sherry casks seems a bit of a bargain. At roughly the same price as this years MacAllan 18 release it might be a rather good chance to try a very old MacAllan. I'm expecting a completely different experience to the 18. I'm hoping for even more viscous softness and complexity with less obvious sherry and more of the soft fruits. Here's the write up, I'd be interested if anyone has any feedback on this and the range as a whole.
Product Information
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 43%
A recently bottled 1988 Macallan by Gordon & MacPhail for their Speymalt series. Aged for 28 years this has sweet sherry influences with vanilla, jammy fig and plum aromas. The palate is peppery with raisin, orange zest and ripe banana flavours. The finish has charred oak and hints of dark chocolate.
