The only time I've had it with a cigar was with a Siglo II and they went very well with eachother.

I bought a half-bottle after reading this thread and it wasn't as foul as I recall. Not got round to trying it with a cigar yet though. Maybe tonight!

Southern and Seven was my drink many years ago. Today, I like some sweet and sour drinks with my cigars, and I'll sometimes go for Amaro, which i find goes well with a cigar

I found the finale of the Fonseca KDT Cadete to be very reminiscent of Glayva - so much so that as soon as I'd finished the cigar I went and poured myself a glass of it. I'm quite a fan.

Hmmm, I've never been much of a fan although I still drink it now and again, I find it a little artificial. For anyone who likes SC but fancies something different there are two pretty well known scottish whisky liqueurs, Drambuie and Glayva. My personal preference would be for Drambuie as Glayva has a bit too much honey for my liking. I'd drink Drambuie over SC anytime time, as long as you don't want to mix it with anything.

lol, nice one arf & dave!!!! however, i feel i must direct you to the wikipedia link on southern comfort!!!!
in the history paragraph, it states that, in the days of old, it's slogans were:
a/ "None Genuine But Mine"
and.......
b/ "Two per customer. No Gentleman would ask for more."
take this advice, sip over it (don't down it like 'john wayne', like what most folk i see doing, and you'll find it's a most agreeable drink with a fine cigar), relax and enjoy the flavours!!! i rarely have more than a glass with a cigar (with the exception of the salamones, i had a double measure), but then, that's the norm with me nowadays!!!!
all the best,
alex

As Tippexx said!
I still heave at the thought of the sweetness. Some 30 years though, maybe I should try again with cigars?
Currently really enjoying Kingston Black (sounds like a 50's English detective, isn't)
Lovely chilled with a Monte No.2
They sell it in Waitrose/Ocado
Wife likes it too.

hey whisky77,
definitely mate, go for it!!!! a quarter bottle is about 6 quid, that's enough to let you know if you like it or not....... can't see any reason why you shouldn't!!! it's a whisky liquer as such!!! check out this wiki-link and read the list of ingredients, typical 'cigar flavours' IMO:
it definitely compliments cigars alright IMO!!! especially, like i said, the more spicey, full bodied cubans (such as bolivar and partagas)!!!!
all the best,
alex
