It's a spiritous, warm eggnog type of thing. Slightly sweet but not too much, and offsets the taste of a Monte 4 perfectly!

    Ding Dong!

    Just about this long...

I'm extremely partial to White Russians, except that I'm too cheap to by Kahlua, so I make my own. Then I throw in a shot of Triple Sec. Call it Rev. George's Wholly Hellth Shake.

    Yum!

BTW, I have no trouble smoking any stogie with my Wholly Hellth Shakes, as it's not too sweet (or frothy).

There's a lovely moment in trading places where Denholm Elliot enthuthiastically offers an Eggnog! I love it.

PS Larry I reckon if you got the old fool drunk enough he'd probably say yes... I just wouldn't want to be there when he sobers up!

PPS Jibjob I always refer to a White Russian as "Daddy's special milkshake"... I don't even have kids.

Got to love milk/cream based alcoholic beverages. I'm partial to a nice baileys over ice as I smoke a CC but obviously only at home with no one else around. Had a lovely cocktail called a toblerone while in Australia, basically every type of chocolate milk, sauce and sprit you can think off mixed into a kind of milkshake. It was lovely. Unfortunately the Mrs doesn't like milk while I drink it by the pint. Oh well more eggnog for me I guess lol.

They look similar on paper but have different origins. Eggnog is basically milk, eggs and sugar with a shot of whisky or brandy in it. Advocaat was a creamy liqueur made with Avocados, hence the name, but egg yolks came to be used instead as they were more readily avaliable.

I've actually never tried a snowball, always doubted mixing lemonade with something as thick and gloopy as Advocaat! Can't imagine a cigar going with either TBH.

If so I love it but I only ever indulge at Xmas. The Snowball (with lemonade) is delicious but there's no way it could go with a cigar....too oily/filmy for me

Keep this under your hat larry... but I'm partial to a white russian (the cocktail you understand... not a caucasian communist)... the sweetness goes well with a Monte 2

You're right. But I will never again smoke a Swisher! No cigars with me eggnog laddie! It's one or the other. Tonight? It's eggnog. Tomorrow night? Bolivar Royal Corona and Macallan 12 Year Scotch at the casino while watching the Steelers game. Cheers! And Cheers again!

started a topic Cigars and Eggnog

    Cigars and Eggnog

I know I'm in the minority with this one, but I love eggnog. And with a couple shots of VSOP brandy it's even better. Anyone try to pair a cigar with it? It's not easy. Eggnog is really frothy (duh). Cigars that are similarly as full bodied and creamy don't pair well with the eggnog IMO. It's like an overload of film left in your mouth. Enough to ignite the gag reflex. Cigars that are too spicy make you yearning for something a bit thinner to cleanse the palate too.

No, finding the right cigar to pair with eggnog is tricky, indeed. I would venture a guess that something like a RyJ short churchill would work though. It is a bit creamy, but not too full bodied, and it is certainly not a spicy cigar. Same with the Cohiba Robusto methinks. I'd be hard-pressed to find any other cigars that might work well.
Working...
