That's what I'm thinking - although the cheaper one will be even cheaper at noon today!

Have tried the recovery options, which leads to bsod every time.
That was why I thought I'd try to boot from disk.
    Gutted :-(
Although, as they say, every cloud!

Any recommendations for a sub ?300 laptop?
I already have a chromebook, which I adore, but it can't do my home neworking / downloading stuff, so sadly I still need a laptop.

Yes that model has integrated ram with one slot for expansion, if the on board is bad then your screwed. Keep switching it on and off quickly three times see if it boots to recovery options

Sadly the ram is onboard and not removable.
There is an expansion slot, but afaik adding won't work if the onboard is knackered?
whats the make and model ?

Most likely bad ram if there is more than one stick installed try taking one out and try again, swap over if it still won't work.

I've been nursing my laptop along for a while and not long ago experience the blue screen of death (I'll add screen shots from tapatalk).
This morning, the same happened - In advance of this I'd obtained a linux mint disk.
So when it happened, I shut down and then tried to boot from disk.
    No joy there either......
Any ideas most welcome, as I currently can't do anything with it.
And yes, I have tried turning it off and on again..

    stupid Apple
Not an apple problem... PCs have this issue all the time but the files are easier to find (unlike the maze of locked doors like IOS has). What the issue on Windows/Googles/Androids/whatever devices is they like to gorge back up files with roundabout data. There's one or two files in a folder used to backup your data and it continuously backs your information up until it takes all or 75% of your disk space. Think of it like a benign cancer cell that grows and can't be stopped - but this one stays benign.

Just like a benign tumour, you have to find it and end it. But it's significantly harder on an IOS device. Hell - I don't even know how to find it on a PC!
