My advice is to take out the seasoning packs and replace them with the ones you're going to use and in a few hours take a reading. If the humidity is acceptable then put your cigars in. If not then get down to Asda and pick up a cheap Tupperware clone until it is. You could have saved yourself some money by putting in a little dish of distilled water instead of seasoning packs.

Do not put the cigars into a seasoning Humidor, the RH is not constant, and the cigars will absorb the 84% humidity. Shove them in a Tupperware box with one of your regular bovedas (i assume 65 of 69'ers) until your new humidor is fully seasoned, and at the right RH

Edit: Or follow PeeJay's advice, and take out the seasoning pack, put in your regular one's, and see how the RH holds first. Just do not put the cigars into the humidor whilst seasoning - they'll get rather wet

I think I will get some tupperware and store them in there for now with my 69% packs. At least then I will have some tupperware if things balls up in the future.

Take those Boveda seasoning packs out, replace with boveda 65, 69 or 72 and wait for it to be stable for a day. Thats what I would do anyway.

How long have you been trying to ?season? your unit? If memory serves, it should not take more than a few days to a week to properly season a typical desk-top unit.

Having said that, it sounds like your unit may be oversaturated. (Sad.) So, in addition to the above fine suggestions, consider leaving the lid open for a few hours to let it dry out a bit. Next, close the lid and take a reading. Repeat as necessary. Once it?s at the desired level or lower, throw in your humidity packs and continue to monitor until it stabilizes. Remember, as someone noted, introducing sticks into a newly seasoned box will normally lower the humidity a few percentages, but it should rebound fairly quickly with proper packs.

I have been seasoning since Saturday afternoon. The instructions and online guides all said 1x 84% per 25 cigar the humidor holds. This holds 100 so I put four packs into it.

If thats the case, I will leave the humidor open this afternoon for a couple of hours. The cigars are in tupperware boxes with 69% packs and will transition them in there tomorrow after I am happy with the humidity.

I was under the impression the boveda packs take 14days to fully season so I wouldn't rush to get them in

Also invest a larger lock and lock box...you will use it at some stage

I have swapped the 84% back into it and will give it two weeks from today as I let it air out yesterday.

I have a Germanus cube (white) and went down the same route as yourself on the seasoning etc - I used x4 84% Bovedas and it took a while to get up to the levels - I left things for 2 weeks then replaced with my desired 69% packs (4 of them) and it took a few days to settle to the 69%.

Its all about patience in the process. I was very eager to get everything up and running asap but its seriously worth taking the time, even if that means using tupperware and bovedas for a while - I had left over boveda humi bags so just used those.

The juice is worth the squeeze.....just be patient and let the seasoning run for 14 days and then get the normal bovedas in there for a few days.

Also its worth calibrating the hygros you use as well and knowing what the discrepancy in the readings might be. for example my inkbiord digital unit is 2% out and the in built analogue germanus one is about 4% out........but as I have found from threads on here as long as the RH is between 60%-70% and the temp is at a steady rate all should be fine and dandy!

I've just got myself a germanus and begun the seasoning yesterday. Just a little bowl of water in there is keeping it at 80-85% so that's quite handy.
