    Anyone else like bees?

I have two hives, both Warre, both self populated. Or I HAD. One was just died. Wax moth inside and then wasps finished it off. Not a drop of honey left, they cleaned it like a Labrador at a kids party. Very sad.
I've broken the hive down for the winter now and will be build for the spring. The colony was previously good and spawned one swarm this year so that's not so bad.

My aunty keeps bees. She says that her ones have been acting peculiar this year, not making proper hives, just bits of ones and honey production is much lower than usual. It's good that more people are keeping them as it would seem they need all the help they can get.

When the bees die, we die, or so I've read.

Yes. That's my conclusion too. I may have spotted the 'how' as well.

If enough humans are fooled Into thinking they are neither really male or female, so they stop breeding, the numbers of humans fall.

Assume that human fecundity falls to fifty PC in one generation, assume one generation is 30 yeats and Assume humans die at an average age of 80 years...how many generations will it take to cull fifty PC of us?

Could be awkward if the fifty percent that go are all the (actually) male or (actually) female! Won't do the remainders any good saying 'but I KNOW I'm really a woman'!

I fancy keeping bees come to think of it. What's the real risk of having swarms invading the neighbours' gardens or chasing you into the house? Does it affect BBQs? How much honey do they yield? Is it expensive?

advice i've been given is find your local Bee Keepers club via https://www.bbka.org.uk/

setup estimate was c?1000 - ?1500 which I think is a bit toppy but i'll convince myself everything is attainable if I really want to do it!!
lots of opportunity to get used kit or share kit with bee keeping clubs...
