  • Hamlet Reserve cigars - Newbie

Hi !, Just joined as I`m after some help & advice. Hope I don`t get shot down in flames by admitting to be a regular cigarette smoker (Regal K.S) & only an occasional Cigar smoker!. Basically I`m a newbie when it comes to cigars - Tried the following...

Hamlet - normal ones - disgusting!
Panama- Not bad, but not much of a smoke
Henri wintermans Half Corona- Had one & binned the rest!

Now onto Hamlet reserve - Really like these, of course as I`ve just found out (& Probably all of you already know) they have been discontinued by the manufacturers, first one website was out of stock & now the second i`ve tried, same response.

I noticed they have Hamlet specials, are they more or less exactly the same as the reserve, or more like the normal Hamlet?
Of course if anybody could point me to something similar, I`d be entirelly grateful !. Ideally I`d like something I could just buy from a normal supermarket, which I was able to do with Hamlet reserve, until they all vanished! So in front of me I have one last unopened pack of Hamlet reserve - daren`t smoke them !

Welcome to the forum. Look into a sample pack from cgars ltd and open your eyes.

The closest to anything like that you'll hear anyone here mention would be mini's such as the cogiba mini, or monte joyitas (I believe that's correct). Sorry I can't be of much help but I don't think you'll get many people (if any) smoking those around these parts, sorry I can't help you out.
A cigar is not measured by its cost - It is measured by how much it burns your fingers

Thanks for your help, I just wish now i`d stocked up on the cigars when I realised Website 1 was out of stock. Sadly none of the shops near me stock them, so I suppose for now my `foray` into cigars is over. Unless I give the Hamlet specials a go. Thanks again.

Hello and welcome Jarod, heres my tuppence worth, our sponsor sells these, http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/chinchaler...os-p-2744.html
I have tried the larger vitola's and found them to be quite acceptable, so have no reason to doubt the smaller vitola, and in my experience they should be far above a hamlet in taste and quality.
These are my favourite small cigar at the moment, http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/chinchaler...os-p-2744.html

            Here you go Jarod.

Great retailer .... and still have some.

But, my advice .... Montecristo Purito Waitrose. Try a pack or two, then think about going up the scale a bit. The Chinchalero which have been suggested aren't too bad and anything Toscano are very good value .... after that it's the slippery slope to Cubans.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

@ Tippexx , Thanks for your help, but sadly that website is one of the places that is out of stock (emailed the owner last night). Hopefully I might have a lead on another website today - so there is maybe hope lol

Thanks for all your suggestions, I`ll certainly have a look at them. I know i`m probably being laughed at, for liking such a basic cigar, but at the mo, they are the one`s I just like to kick back with at night for a different smoke as compared to the normal cigs. Probably in time I will get more into `Proper cigars` & wonder why I ever bothered in the first place!. But It`s just my luck to find a cigar I like, to find they are discontinued. Thanks again all of you for the help and advice, it is appreciated!

Doubt any of us on here would be so rude as to laugh about your personal choice of smokes, but i can almost guarantee once you start to try out the huge and varied range of what is out there you will find a lot more to your taste, if you are able to put into word the type of flavours you experience from you faves then there are many here who can give you some serious pointers to what else might suit your palete.
