  • Unbelievable im amazed at the cheek, if you buy a ticket and then dont go then its your loss! Especially as its clear from the begining in the rules. Keiths a great bloke and didnt need to bend over backwards to send out the smokes. Whatever the reason you dont go, you snooze you lose!

    • Respect to Keith, what a top man

It was the first Big Smoke event and I'm sure there will be changes for the next one, possibly a different way of handling cigars that come with the ticket.

Just out of interest, if you go to Foxes events etc do they send out cigars if you fail to attend?

I would find that a little odd if they did, what is to stop people from buying a ticket purely for the cheap smokes and never have any intention of attending?

I for one will definitely be at the next Big Smoke and I hope you are not deterred from putting it on again Keith!

Sorry to hear you are "not happy at all".

I have sent you your cigars and apologised for the delay. I would ask you to bear several points in mind:
              • There was no refund, transfer or mail order options available with the tickets. You bought a ticket, you were entitled to attend the event. You did not attend. We did not offer any other alternative. We do not offer mail order on any cigars.
              • Its odd that you book a ticket to attend an event, then decide not to go and then decide to bitch about the event.
              • The selection of the cigars on the Cuban ticket was not only fairly unique and hard to find, but also at a very good price. Someone like Simply Cigars is over 25% more expensive for their on-line price. It compares well with people like Mitch from Cgars.
              • One of the ways we achieved this level of value was by using drinks revenue on the day of the event to subsidise the cigar prices.

Now obviously you did not attend the event. Despite this I agreed, as a personal favour, to mail you the cigars.
I did not ask you for the contribution to postage and because it took a while to send out the cigars, I put an extra cigar into the package for you - a Bolivar Britanicus. Not a bad smoke btw.

So, once again, my apologies if you are not happy. I would be happy to refund you the ?89 and I can call round at yours (you only live about 10 miles from the pub) to collect the cigars in person to save any postage issues.

              Regards Keith

PS If you would like to correspond further on this; perhaps using PM might be better.

Best post I've seen in a long time.
Very nice to see you again last Thursday Keith, however briefly. Must make more time next time.

              • Hey Andy, what's this about Rob and a West Ireland Herf? Sounds like a good idea. Look forward to the next time.

Hi Keith, there is a Che Guevara festival on in Kilkee, County Clare, the last weekend in September, details not yet up.
The first one was held last year, the 50th anniversary of Che visiting the town, when his flight was delayed by fog in Shannon.
Jim Fitzpatrick was there (artist who created the famous print of the Che image, copied from the Korda photograph), Teresita Trujillo, Cuban Ambassador to Ireland was also there. About 10 of us went, Rob organised a cigar/rum tasting. Good pubs, music, outdoor smoking venues. It's a nice little seaside town with a good buzz about the place.
It would be great to organise something when the details go up. The more the merrier down there.
Here is a link to a blog about last year's with some pictures.
We're Ireland's leading cigar and spirits retailer, operating for over 140 years. Our specialities are Cuban cigars, Irish whiskey and smoking pipes, with a great selection of these (and more!) on our physical and virtual shelves.

I'll put something up when details of this year's event get out.

                      Andy

                        • What a great blog piece and Rob looks the part as Che.

I will plan to come over for this one.

                          Fantastic.
