  • Hi Everyone

    Hi,

My Names Jozef, 21 from Leicester.

Have just fell in love with cigars after my father/brother introduced me at my brother wedding.

Currently searching for my first Humidor & after that the collection will begin!
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.

    John iv. 18.

Hi Jozef, welcome to the forum. I'm new here myself and find the posts and discussions interesting and educating.

Be sure to read some of the earlier posts on humidors and all that before launching in. There are some good tips, ideas and alternatives.

Welcome! Just one hint, buy a bigger humi than you think you'll need, that bad boy fills up quickly once you catch the bug.

Comments like this raise great concern for me because I suspect it is true.

Is 'filling-a-larger-humidor' (emphasis on filling and larger) more akin to collecting books, pens, knives, guns etc. than anything else? Or is it a case of buying a box here and a box there to stock up on cigars that benefit from a stint in the humidor? In time you have collected hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds of tobacco.

Lets just say I bought a 75 count humi thinking 'it'll do, I only smoke once a week if that'. I now have a tuppaware container as an overspill now lol.

Hello and welcome, nice to see another midlander on

From experience, buy the biggest humidor you can afford, it will fill up!

Hi and welcome. I think that there are two main reasons why it's best to either buy the biggest humidor that you can afford or to think about other storage solutions:

                - Buying cigars is addictive - the more you become interested in various cigars, the more cigars you will buy. And like any serious collection, a cigar collection is self-perpetuating.
                - Many cigar smokers develop a preference for aged cigars and end up buying boxes to age for several years (some people won't touch cigars that are less than several years old). If you plan to have enough cigars to smoke and to age, then you're going to need plenty of storage space. Even if aging isn't really a priority for you right now, bear in mind that it might be in a few months.

Thankfully, there are cheaper alternatives to large humidors: Look up 'tupperdor' in the search facility and you'll find lots of useful info. Don't hesitate to ask if you need any advice - people here are a friendly bunch.
If you want a midget to look like a baby, don't put a cigar in his mouth.
